Yay - NSC has a new player to hate more than anyone else at the club!

Triffick.

That is complete total and utter bollox, He was calm on the ball and we actually kept hold of it for abit whilst he was on. Can't believe he's getting stick for his cameo today

Exactly this. I saw a calm skilled footballer who makes space for himself very well. We'll need this sort of creativity in future and he needs to be carefully managed. I have just the person in mind... Get him fit Gus!

He gave the ball away cheaply when he had the ball soon after he came on, and I remember he could have tackled someone on the West Stand touchline when he didn't, but he settled in well apart from that. It's a shame that plenty of our fans simply don't like him. He hasn't helped himself on occasions like the penalty at Millwall, but he does have ability. You can't score a goal like he did against Peterborough without that. I agree that the jury is still out on him, but we should all support our players when they are on the pitch, because it can make a difference!

What a stupid, pointless, sad, bitter thread.

Yes you're entitled to voice your opinion blah blah, but we've just knocked one of the country's top teams out of the FA cup - can' t you enjoy the moment.

Harley came on as a sub, made one bad error when giving the ball away, but looked reasonably comfortable keeping the ball and finding a team-mate in the opposition half. He's certainly not impressed much yet but that does't mean he's a write off. Not only Gus but also Brendan Rodgers have seen enough in they guy to sign him. And I'm guessing, just guessing, they know more about football than you.

Spot on

I do believe it was 0.0 when he came on & 1.0 when we came off.
I'm not convinced about him but I thought he did ok.

What I don't understand is on a day when we beat a team that is 6th in the premier league we have people on here that
are more interested in moaning than enjoying what is a fantastic result

he looked skillfull and aware to me.......he could possibly be lacking a pair of BALLS though , not sure if you can train BALLS onto/into a player ......perhaps a few weeks in the gym and some boxersize might help him.......like someone said ,not the right night to moan about it.

Crazy thread. Bridcutt had a poor first half. JFC was not as lively as he has been. I see no threads slagging them off.

Harley played fine and has some intelligence on the ball. Buckley got grief on this board for being injured (!) and now he's the best player ever to don a blue and white shirt. Give the guy a break.

We took a major scalp today. Can't you just enjoy the moment, or will you be off to throw mud at Barnes next?

Last night was the first time I'd seen Harley play and it was clear why people have such strong views on him.

His passing was neat and tidy, he looked calm and assured on the ball and has a great first touch.

Conversely, sometimes his calmness appears casual- ie when he first came on and dithered on the ball before losing it. There certainly were a couple of 50-50 balls that he seemed to pull out of/'bottle.'

Although i was screaming at the tele myself, the fact is he's never going to be the kind of played that will storm into challenges taking ball and man. Do we really need that from him?

I remember reading an interview with Xavi once where he said he found it amazing that English fans cheer a defender smashing the ball out for a throw. To him that was ceding possession and anathema to his game. Barca players close space and apply pressure, you don't see them flying into tackles as if their lives depend on it.

Maybe Harley was born in the wrong country?

Perhaps because bridcutt has been outstanding for the majority of the season and JFC shows effort and commitment and talent.

Harley has has chance after chance and appears to be totally disinterested - thats why he gets slagged off and rightly so imo.

If he really was a bottler of tackles, lacking in passion and slow thinking do you think Gus would let him anywhere near the first team. Of course not. Yesterday Barnes was immense and he's had nothing but haters on here lately.

Really pleased to see so many people defending our player from attacks from myopic fools. Harley did ok yesterday, we certainly haven't seen the best of him yet but I am sure that we will especially if he continues to get the managers backing.

As for JFC, I thought his movement was really good, always attacking the space and making himself available which was excellent to see. However whilst in possession his decision making was not up to his usual standard and that is why Harley was brought on. I thought Harley along with Barnes was absolutely instrumental in us killing the game off at the end.

I watched the same match, and can't fault one player from last night.
There are always people who manage it though, despite a fine team performance and a win against a top league opposition fielding a strong side.

I think, given the result and the quality of our lads, that this is a REALLY crap thread, and I'm only sorry to be 'bouncing' it by posting.
Withdean Wanderer, is it by any chance?

It's not WW - him and The Complete Badger are always conspicuously absent after a victory.

I do find the OP's attitude quite incredible though. We've just knocked one of the best teams in the country out of the cup, but rather than enjoy the moment they'd rather have a pop at one of our players.

I also totally agree with the comment someone made about Xavi. Isn't it better to keep in position sometimes rather than fly into a challenge and risk conceding a free kick (and maybe getting a card) or getting beaten?
