Comes down to what the club want to achieve. If the aim was just to survive, then I'd probably agree with you but it''s not is it. Both Bloom and Poyet have publicly said we're aiming for the play offs or that we're contenders. If they'd said we want to make sure we stay up, most people would have been pretty happy with that. But they've raised the bar. Personally, I'm pleased as it shows ambition. But right now, in my opinion, we're a long way off from being genuine contenders. We've not won for 7 games and with very difficult games ahead against West Ham and Birmingahm we could easily quickly slide down the table.
It's opinion and I'm entitled to that. Isn't this what a forum like this is all about?

Wells said but personally 48 points will do me.

Perhaps someone who wants to argue semantics might suggest these are not "problems" per se, but they are negatives that are valid points of discussion, which for the sake of simplicity I will call 'problems'.

and certainly worthy of discussion, on a brighton discussion board, after a brighton match

Well as one who "was there when we were shit" I came away from millwall extremely frustrated and disappointed.

What I find so annoying is that millwall were the for the taking. They were dreadful and when we went 1-0 up, I am not saying we should have gone gung ho at them, however there were Times when the forwards made really great runs and our midfield chose to pass it back to the defenders to f*** about with it and then give it to ankeran to hoof it forward to the millwall defence. I noticed three times mackail smith berating the midfield for not getting the ball to him and noone quicker.

Personally, that is me now for away games after many years and hopefully people who can't get tickets will have at least one other ticket to aim at. To spend the time and money on that you have to enjoy it and personally ( and for quite a few around me) it became too frustrating to enjoy.

As I said that is my opinion and I do not expect you to agree, especially those who didn't go.

Yep the race for 2nd is certainly on. First place is already sewn up. :lolol:

It pains me to say it, but Southampton have been superb this season.

It is going to be tight and a win next week could move us right up again.

I hate the moaners who start kicking off as soon as we hit a bad patch but it's inevitable - it ALWAYS happens.

For me, it's all about 5 o'clock on 28th April

All this negativity is absolutely outrageous

Where would we rather be.....fighting relegation battles in Div1 , playing at Withdean?

All I can think is that the majority of people on here, are in the main JCL's.
Who can't recollect the events of the last 14 years, and infact before that, when our slide really started.

I can to an extent understand comments from younger fans, who dont have memories of those days.......but what I cant accept is that people who should know better criticise the management, the players, the transport, the caterers, and even the groundsman for watering the pitch!!!!

FFS look where we are now, Falmer is amazing, it still seems like a dream to me, and am so thankful to Tony Bloom in making this possible

Lets get off Gus's back criticising his selections, leave the tactics to him....ok so we have a few problems to resolve within the team, but lets get behind them, and stop the sniping and NEGATIVITY

48 points will do me....its a 3 year plan in my opinion, lets find our feet before we move onwards and upwards

depends whether your glass is half empty of half full I reckon.

Simple.

That's all very well, but have you seen the length of the queue just to get the glass in the first place?

Totally agree with Sneaky George, bar a couple of players this is the same squad that was in League 1 last season. The fact people are expecting us to be at the top of the table or even challengeing for promotion is a great mark for where the club has come but in reality a top 10 finish would actually be a wonderful achievement. Then we can get some fresh legs in in the summer and push on next season.

The club IS going places but to expect it to happen over night with a League 1 squad is daft. Sit back, enjoy the season..........

now this makes complete sense. I don't mine people saying that painter or angkergren are not good enough for promotion, or harley has been disappointing and barnes inconsistent, but the vitriol is what gets me. Comments like 'i f***ing hate harley the ****' is so wide of the mark its insane. Why can't people simply label painter as a limited but hard-working trier that may be replaced in time, rather than as a 'useless fucker'. Where has all this frustration and anger come from?

Under your skin.
Am I the only one who thinks we either need to

1) Give Caskey a chance
Or
2) Get a new CM or two.

Harley, Dicker and Sparrow are NOT good enough.

For me, a successful season would be:

A top ten finish if possible and holding on to the likes of Bridcutt, CMS and Vicente for the 2012/13 season would be fantastic. Would show ambition and means we can recruit further and push on....

We were f***ing awesome yesterday. Made Wham look very ordinary and could have easily had more, and all without Lallana. The 32,5k crowd made it quality.

I've seen Albion and Saints each 3 times this season. Against Posh and 2nd half v Leeds, Albion looked quality. Excellent attitude, work rate, and a lot of passing ability around them team. Obviously i'm biased but our passing ability and fluidity is 2nd to no one in this league. If we invest our 12m Chamerlain money in January, we could run away with it. That said, our away record isnt that great it could only take one defeat at home to burst the bubble.

After the years of shit we have been through, I will be quite delighted with mid table this season. I believe we are in the best division anyway. I find the premier league pretty boring most of the time. At least in the Championship, theres a bit more effort.
