Should we all bombard the train companies with emails etc showing the error of their ways due to the big weekend.

This will ensure the unfortunate ones travelling by trains will get there in time!!!

More to the point, if the railway companies want to play the game properly, they should be handing over shares to all significant investors. Which, given the vast amounts of the state's/taxpayers' money that is handed over to them in subsidy (more than the nationalised railways EVER received), means that very quickly indeed we would see the state as majority shareholder.

Truly privatised? Then stop begging for more subsidies, you despicable twats.

good point,

so even though it was privatised and a few fat c***s got payouts, the state still funds it and the nation pays for it, so it should still really be a national concern

I say lynch the bastards and appoint a public transport minister

Lord B . . .fancy a new job ?

What exactly is the incentive for a train company to provide additional services?

People will buy a train ticket before their journey. If they all get squashed on a train, or have to stand or whatever the train company is still getting the money.

They won't get any extra for forking out on extra trains/staff.
