Steve Coppell is considering using striker Darius Henderson as a solution to Reading's defensive crisis.

Reading are without centre-backs Steve Brown and John Mackie because of knee injuries, and are also about to lose Adie Williams to the Wales squad.

Henderson will play in defence for a reserve-team clash.

Henderson said: "I have been told the manager thinks I can do a job there. I have played in that position before in my career. I prefer playing up front and scoring goals, but I can't score goals from the sidelines.

"If converting to centre-back will win me a place in the team then I am happy to give it a go."

I think Hendersons quote makes more sense without the "from the sidelines" bit.

Face it Ali when he was with us he was a lazy useless git, who didn't know where the Goalmouth was unles it was a spot kick.
Then it was "I've got the ball I'm taking the penalty (or I'll have a tantruim)"

Glad he's back with you along with that other treacherous Gymboid Copout

I didn't rate him either. How will he play centre half ? He might have to jump and head the ball.Even have to compete and might get hurt trying to tackle, just trying would've been a bonus.Don't care how s**t he is now hope he never plays a good game again and costs C*****l his job.

On a par with barn door billy, if that's the extent of ambition, we can give up any hope of the play offs this season

lol, no

2003 is a long time ago.

But I'm not sure if Henderson will suit us. He's good at outmuscling defenders and banging in goals, not sure how good he is playing one touch passing and playing with his back to goal? If there's one thing CMS has shown it's that you need someone who will suit your team irrespective of how many goals they've scored.

Also, how many players with pending court cases do we want.
