25 years of loyal service with hardly a gripe. Now, I can't wait to leave. Thanks Tony, it's all down to you.:nono:

Don't get me wrong, I don't disapprove of the aim of a labour government to create 'society', I feel as though the view of screwing the wealth creators to achieve it, just won't work.

Ah gimme a break - you even talk like a Tory drone.

Wealth creators? I've got news for you pal, everybody who does a hard day's work in this country is a wealth creator, not just your precious little bunch of businessmen who you want to pay less tax in order to fund our health and education services.

And please, be my guest, keep spewing out the anti-Europe tirades - it will boost that UKIP vote no end - your pal Kenneth Clarke I'm sure would love that. It's precisely what is stopping the Tory fools getting back into power. It allows socialists like me to be totally relaxed in attacking Blair from the left because THERE IS NO DANGER WHATSOEVER of the Tories ever getting their act together to challenge the centre-left in this country.

Good thread. It's nice to see someone start a thread with a well thought out statement of opinion. They pick a subject that may be unpopular, and one which other posters are sure to disagree with, so an interesting debate can ensue.
Then the name callers and one-liners arrive on the scene and ruin it for the rest, what a shame.

The does appear to be a lot of left wing, pot smoking , studenty types populating NSC at the moment. Richie set himself up for a fall for simply expressing his opinion and the name callers, smug bastards etc did not less us down ( we know who they are ).

jonogulls - you lambasted me, infact If I went to a lawyer would have a good case for slander ( BC is a twat thread ) and said I have posted on NSC saying I don't like Iraqi's and am glad they have killed thousands of them , called me a rascist and threatened to kill me but then do a post saying I admire Blair. Blair who supported the war with Bush that resulted in all the above.

Explain ???

I think roughly 1 million Rwandans were killed in widespread genonside in that country Ritchie? Didnt see Blair giving two shits then mate!!! No oil go figure!!!

That argument makes me f***ing sick!
The genocide in Rwanda happened in 1994, when the Conservatives were in government. That's not to say that Labour would have been any different, if they had been in power.

I don't admire Tony Blair. He has a good PR team and lots of (Tony's) Cronies in place which makes him look better than he is.

He has some good Ministers which is why Labour are still doing well with their policies but as for Tony himself? No thanks.

I don't admire Tony Blair, but I do feel the country is better off under Labour than the Tories.

Saying that there is no difference between Labour and the Tories is quite a popular opinion these days. While I admit that this government has moved towards the centre/right, I realise that they did this to get elected. There is still an ocean of difference between the two parties. I remember in the early nineties when the minimum wage was considered by most to be an evil socialist policy that would ruin the country. Now it's seen as a right of every worker.

It's one example, but there are more.

You mean like when he invaded Grenada (Head of state : HM The Queen) ?

As a middle-aged middle class beer swilling HR manager I'm not sure if I can fit easilyinto that stereotype. While I am delighted that the tories have been cast into the political twilight for the time being, that does not mean that I have anything but contempt for B.Liar.

The successes of this government such as the minimum wage, family tax credits, Early Years & Sure Start education and a stable economy seem to generate mainly from Brown rather than Blair.

Both Blair and Brown are responsible for a shift from progressive income tax to regressive consumption taxes, an increasing surrender to unrepresentative religious pressure groups, a constant pandering to the rich and powerful whenever their interests are threatened, a dogmatic anti-public sector mentality which has resulted in privatising air traffic control and the maintainance of London Underground and the failure to bring the railways back under public control. as for the comments made regarding the Iraq war it is now clear that there were never any WMDs nor any links to islamic terror groups. The argument that saddam was an evil dictator and thus his removal was fully justified flies in the face both in the face of international law which explicitly denies the right of external regime change and the sheer gall of Tony and George's equally vile friends in Saudi and central asia.

There are two reasons why I will not be voting Labour:

1) Lying about and leading us into an unnecessary war with no plan as to what should be done when Saddam is kicked out.

2) Deciding that it's a great idea to double student debt (at the same time as wanting 50% of school leavers to go to university ??? ) and screwing generally with the eduaction system to the point that my 11 year old brother is now told he must revise for his SATs in a few months, and spends an hour a day on each of literacy and numeracy from the age of 7 leaving no room for children to do what they should be doing, which is having fun

I have no problem with the Labour party, and they have done some good things. BUT. And that is a big BUT.

Tony Blair has taken the country to war on a false premise. He knew it to be that, or if he didn't - he was not thorough enough in his deliberations. He said to people in our armed forces - I want you to be prepared to sacrifice your lives. And some of them have. I do not know if there is a more serious charge.

Were I the relative of a young person killed under these circumstances I would be upset in the extreme.

He has abused his position of power, and should go, and let his colleagues take this country forward.

Having been brought up under a Conservative government until an age where I was old enough to vote, I find it incredible to think anyone could ever back the Tories again.

All governments attract criticism while they are in office, which is as it should be in a democracy, but anybody that thinks the country was truly in a better state before Labour came to power needs serious therapy.

The Tories systematically destroyed British industry and created a selfish, every man for himself culture. They pandered to the basest instincts by basically bribing the electorate with tax cuts that reduced the NHS, education and public service in general to a farce. The vast majority of people I know now have a far, far greater standard of living than at any other time in their lives.

I certainly don't put all that success down to Tony Blair, who strikes me as a rather 'fake' PM, but his party deserve a pat on the back for giving us a pretty stable economy rather than the 'boom and bust' situations of the past.

I'm not a loony leftie incidentally - my family traditionally voted Conservative. I just prefer a party that recognises that public services are important to protect and improve society, and those services cost money. Anyone that seriously thinks the Tories give a toss about the NHS, schools or anything else that benefits everyone is either deluded or too young to properly remember them in power.

Tony Blair has been the best conservative Prime Minister since the Mighty Maggie Thatcher.

:lolol: :lolol: :lolol:

( Oh alright then, until her 3rd term, when she went barking mad and started to hit Johnny Foreigner in the street with her handbag )

It is very, very funny to see the 'student dope smoking' :)lol: nice one GG) Trot insurgents in the Labour party tearing themselves apart over having an obvious Tory in charge, but they find it hard to accept that without that centre-right opportunist in charge, the Labour Party would now be a sentimental and antiquated working class irrelevance.

Tony Blair's political instincts are absolutely spot on. He tells the British electorate what they want to hear, sits squat in the centre right politically, and for that reason will undoubtedly get in next time.

And having been brought up under a Labour government until an age where I was old enough to vote (including Heath's government when the country was disabled by unions), I found it incredible to think anyone could ever back Labour again, but they did.

Quite right. Tony Blair is more f***ing right wing than Thatcher ever was. You can NOT trust the man. Bush lied and cheated to get into power. Labour have lied and cheated in power. Just a shame that neither the Tories or the Lib Dems would do any better in power. Who to vote for now? f***ed if I can decide!
