Can't believe the decision to make Jones no.2.....it has taken any gloss off the announcement. The previous regime needed to be completely cleared out. He was part of the team that ultimately displayed appalling tactical naivety.
Singularly unimpressed and feel it is a massive mistake.

Where does it say he's Number 2?

I'd reckon more like Number 3, with Sami appointing his own Assistant Manager and Jones doing the Charlie Oatway role.

Perspective, we now have the manger who has led his team to 3th & 4th in the Bundesliga. He's not going to be crap and would appear to have arguably more experience at managing at a high level than our previous two mangers.

Exactly, should have been a clean sweep and let the new manager bring in his own staff or does Jones speak FINNISH as well as SPANISH ?

Having seen a youtube video of him during his Liverpool days, I have to say I am quite excited that we have another potentially high calibre manager. Certainly a high class player who has been a winner. Roll on season 2014-15.

The only cup he's never won is a League title. He's won every other domestic and European honour. Maybe he can change that as a manager by winning the Championship for us!!!!

Not many teams finish 3th.

Hyypia seems more like a Alan Mullery type ??? Could West Bromwich Baggies have pipped Albion at the post?

Official now. Choice of Albions. Brighton, mostly third tier whilst Hyypia was at Liverpool.
Hyypia whilst at Liverpool results v West Bromwich (Premier regulars): 2-0, 6-0, 3-0, 5-0, 1-0, 2-0, 3-0, 3-0.

Anyone here who follows the bundesliga know what type of football Leverkusen played under him?

Struggled at home against the lower clubs. Sounds familiar. But they made it though to 4th place, at least one occasion with Sam coming on the sub to cross for the winning goal.

I don't think we could have done any better. Gates comparable at Bayer 04, perhaps a 1,000 or so higher. Stadium much the same size. To come 4th was really good for them.

Starting a revolution from my bed
Found this article on him: http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/...-manchester-uniteds-old-trafford-8818155.html

Not sure how I feel about this quote:

It was a strange working dynamic. Hyypia was not fully qualified to coach, so he was “teamchef”, the figurehead and dressing-room motivator. Lewandowski was “cheftrainer”, in charge of training and tactics, the Malcolm Allison to Hyypia’s Joe Mercer. But the arrangement worked. Leverkusen finished 2011-12 sufficiently well that Hyypia and Lewandowski kept their job-share through 2012-13. Hyypia had to learn on the job, while studying for more coaching qualifications, and even said he was “still figuring out if I am a good manager”.

Certainly seems to place a fair bit of importance on who he chooses as his assistant.
