Hull chairman Adam Pearson has revealed that the Tiger's goal-shy strikers have cost the club a whopping £901,875 a goal this season. Pearson admitted the club, who were relegated to the Championship last week and are reportedly £35m in debt, are spending £195,000 a week on strikers, which in total this campaign has cost them £7.215m for a return of eight goals.

cracking article, loved this bit

Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink has three in 31 games, while Caleb Folan is positively deadly with two goals in seven.

I love this

"Pearson said: "We must move a lot of players out."

So, you go to a national newspaper, read by millions and say that you have strikers who are rubbish, so we're going to get rid of them. Who on earth is going to pay any money, or pay decent wages for strikers that their own club says are no good?

Nice PR work there.

Out of interest, how many managers are you aware of that buy players based on scouting reports in the national papers?

I'm sure there are none but that's not the point. When Pearson tries to offload one of his strikers, any potential purchaser will be able to recall what he said about him.

If someone were buying a car and had overheard the owner say that he had to get rid of the car as it kept breaking down and hoped that some mug would take it off his hands, do you think the purchaser would want to go ahead with the deal?

Vennegor has scored 63 in 142 for Twente, 76 in 157 for PSV, 34 in 78 for Celtic (admittedly not the best leagues in the world), played 17 times for Holland scoring 3 goals.

Just because Hull are are absolute shithouse all over the rest of the pitch, its a bit unfair to blame the strikers!

when you buy a car it is unlikely to have been on the tv every week and you wouldn't send someone to check it out a few times before you buy it. Timbo is spot on in that no one is going to judge the players based purely on their performance this week. Also, Pearson's comments are not what is going to drive down the price. It will be the fire sale that they are forced to do due to their massive debts.
