Ryan is the superior goalkeeper.

In The Times sports section yesterday they rated PL keepers on a sliding scale. Out on his own at the top was City’s keeper, followed by De Gea in the next category down, Loris in the next, and in the last but one category was Ryan (and Palace’s keeper), can’t remember the exact words, but it wasn’t exactly complimentary, saying ‘you get what you pay for’ in terms of him being a ‘budget price’ option.

I dislocated my elbow (or was it my arse) playing football back in the 90s - I fell backwards like young Hugo. The most painful thing that has ever happened to me - even worse than a break. The only thing that got me through was the ineptitude of the St Johns Ambulance staff - I was laughing so much as they were trying to work out what to do!

I See the ‘good’ news is that he only dislocated his elbow, no fracture. I saw the pictures / replay and it looked horrible. Anyway not good to see any player get seriously injured, so hope he gets well soon.

I'm no medic but I believe this injury could be career shortening. The elbow, once re-set could well be weaker, more prone to further dislocation. Then there is the wariness he would likely have, or fear of repeating the injury. He would be superhuman if his confidence weren't affected. At this level of sport where tiny increments make for large differences this dislocation could have worse consequences than a break, I fear.

Twas a horrible injury, I wish they hadn't shown it. I hope I'm wrong and he gets back to full fitness swiftly.

Me too, Lloris should have caught his cross without any trouble at all.

To my eyes, he did, but then realised his backwards momentum was going to take him and the ball over the line, and dropped it, should have pushed it wide. Perhaps his intention was to drop it and then recover it, when he had stopped his backwards motion, but he fell, badly.
