What I like is CLEARLY Hughton knows what each player is bringing to the team.

In most football fans minds, they would look at Baldocks complete lack of goals and go for the simplistic "he doesn't score but he's a STRIKER, he should be dropped".

Thankfully CH realises that a goal counts for exactly the same, no matter who scores it. Baldock is putting in a proper unslefish SHIFT in for the team and is rightfully being rewarded with starts even if he isn't scoring whilst the wingers in the team are flourishing.

I am assured that Hughton and Calderwood sit down afterwards and analyse each minute of each game in the pursuit of making us better. This includes assessing the contribution of Baldock. Out of interest, any one know Baldock's assist rate? I reckon he plays a key role in over 75% of our goals. He should have scored by now, but at least he is hitting the target (most of the time).

Whilst I agree with that, Baldock would not be getting away with it if we were losing games....

I can sense a couple of goals for Mr Baldock are just around the corner though.

When Gus was in charge I was always feeling as thou he was waiting for a better offer, we where just a stepping stone. I don't get that feeling with CH. Seems like a decent down to earth bloke and we seem to be acting the same back as supporters not going in to hughtomania.

I couldn't disagree more. I have absolutely no fears about him leaving and I don't believe he will be that much of a target in any case.

I think you are about 95 % Correct. I don't think he would move to any other Championship side, even if approached. He wants to manage in the Premiership again but there are very few Premiership jobs he could take. He wouldn't go to Newcastle because because of ashley. He couldn't go to Sunderland or Villa because he has managed their biggest rivals. The Top 8 big sides, he is not high enough profile name for them.

That leaves only a handful that he could go to; however anyone who approaches him will obviously be in danger of going down - Consequently if he is sitting at Brighton with a side capable of going up why would he take the chance of potentially going down. He will get more plaudits for taking Brighton up than say perhaps saving Swansea or Stoke from going down.

Weigh all of that up and i think you can all rest safely. They will of course have to review his current contract though because even though he might not be interested in moving, it won't stop some clubs throwing money at him if they are in danger of going down but CH is not in it for the money. For him, he just loves his work and puts a lot into every job he takes on.

Thanks Chris but shouldn't you be getting ready for tomorrow night ?

Im sure BZ will get most of the headlines today as well he should but lets not forget the role the manager
has played in changing the formation during the closing stages of today's game.

I don't think he is getting the recognition he deserves.

I find him quite easy to recognise. he's the bloke who stands in the technical area that isn't Nathan Jones.....

But joking aside, I know what you mean and I totally agree. I think we did very well to get him..

Everyone UNDERESTIMATES how INTELLIGANT I am

I love reading your posts Ernest. It has been fab to see your gradual change in tone both about Chris and the clubs chances of success this year. Your not totally won over yet but there has been a shift in your views
