[Albion] Hughton has "gone for it" but has just been unlucky

We need 14 points from 11 games to get more points than last season.
You'd have to be pretty half full to say this is likely (ask me in a week) but its not completely out of the question.
At the end of the day CH is the best manager we have ever had. This is arguably the best squad we have ever had. We are in a tough run of form, however in my opinion still playing decent football. And we are in a good position to survive. We just need to hold our nerve and in a couple of weeks we could be all but safe, with a date at Wembley for an FA cup semi final to look forward to.

11 from 10 sounds a lot more achievable than 14 from 10 !

Unlucky, maybe, but have the Albion brought it on themselves by not getting a box to box player in over the last 2 seasons? Watch any highlights of a PL game,even our game v Burnley, and see how many players support the 1 or 2 forwards when the ball is around the box. Murray's lucky if he's got 1 within 20 yards sometimes, it's this obivous lack of pace in the midfield that's our undoing. They can either attack or defend but certain players are very poor at getting up and down and really the main problem is the midfield. Before the season started the club said the pre-season training would allow a more pressing game to be played,well we've not seen much of that it's still the same no tackles till it's in our third, the m/f has been found out,no pace.

It is, as the master Sir Alex once said, squeaky bum time. One by one the other teams around us are changing their managers. We saw the same thing happen last season.

Unlucky at times during a tricky run of fixtures from which we have gathered precisely the expected number of points.
Some better matches than others. Some bad periods of performance / some excellent.

It's the Bissouma/Gross conundrum. One gives us the most drive from midfield, the other is by far our best deadball specialist. I think the answer is to breed them in preparation for the 2038-39 season

I agree with all of this post, I think we are in desperate need for a box to box player. I know this is contentious,but I think that Pritchard would have suited this roll to a tee.
Our midfield has been our weakest link for quite a few seasons now, and is the area that really needs addressing. Theirs is an important roll, assisting with defence, and supplying our forwards with ammunition, fallen short on many occasions.

I think this is the risk when you try to play a more positive game. Fans where crying out for us to "just be a bit more attacking". You had the extremes of the guy on the radio saying he should go even though we'd won three games in a row 1-0 to those on here who are a bit more level headed who were saying, "I'm not saying he should go, I'd just like to see us be a bit more positive".
Previously we played with two banks of four, we we were fairly deep and compact. Hard to play through. By having more possession, by having wide players that little bit higher, by wanting to get up the pitch more we have created more chances, and we're also facing fewer shots in game because we're more dominant between the posts. The problem is when the opposition do get a chance, there is more chance of it being a better chance. Chances like Leicester's first, Burnley's first, possibly wouldn't have been possible if we were deeper and narrower.
A lot of people wanted to see the team evolve, I'm sure Hughton does too, and I think two things happened, one we were looking comfortable enough to think, we've got an opportunity to tweak things a little due to the league table, and two with Ali J away, Izquierdo injured, it was a good time for Locadia to get an opportunity. I think it would be a bit hasty to write it off already as I think when you change your philosophy a bit you have two things to work through, one is the players learning the new system so well, it becomes second nature to them, two is finding out which players can't adapt, are left exposed, and need to be upgraded in the transfer window if you want to maintain playing that way.
