Another Post Burnley/Solly March update

March {ankle] - The Argus understands he has "tweaked ligaments" and not expected to be a "long term absentee".
"March would not have played [v Derby] anyway with Chris Hughton poised to use the competition again to utilise his squad."

Izquierdo [knee] - Argus confirm, as expected, he's back in training after 10 weeks after that recurring knee problem.

For those speculating about the likely return of either...
Here's the fixtures/possible returns..take your pick.
Gross and Propper - our previous long term absentees this season returned to first team within about a week-10 days after training.
Others - Stephens, Bernardo - have returned earlier than that.

u23s Man City [A] - Fri Feb 15
FA Cup : Derby [H] - Sat Feb 16th
EPL: Leicester [A] - Tue Feb 26th
EPL: Hudds [H] - Sat Mar 02
u23s Derby [A] - Mon Mar 4th

Pre Derby presser

No surprises. Just confirmed the Argus injury story from yesterday. March - not as bad as expected. Izquierdo - back in training.

Izquierdo [knee] - Confirmed he's in training. Assuming he's been training since last Thursday Feb 7th - "Jose Izquierdo is now back training with us - he'll be a good addition for us once he's back in the side."

March [ankle/ligaments] - "The only doubt at the moment is Solly March - we'll assess him over the next few days.
"He's not far away but we always have to make sure we do everything right."

Jose coming back could be the boost we need for the rest of the season. He's quality and can turn a game on its head in a few seconds.

Like Mark Wood with England, true PACE scares the shit out of the opposition.

Fantastic to get him back. Any idea how long until he is match fit. I presume CH will not gamble on him for the FACup.

He's been out for 10 weeks. Normally means he'll need a u23s game as a warm up or a behind doors friendly. I guess Hudds on March 2nd might be realistic.
Gross and Propper were returned to the team relatively quickly after similar time out.

Still no mentions of Steele, I see AN is predicting Sanchez for the bench tomorrow.

What is the story with Steele?

Hand injury a week a fortnight or so ago pre first West Brom match.

Could he possibly make the bench on Saturday and then 10 mins at the end?

Unlikely. He’s been training for a week only ., was out for 10 weeks, and had had a brief season anyway due to initial World Cup injury.
I’m guessing Hudds is earliest we will see him assuming no hiccups.

Hughton said he was hopeful Murray would be available for the next match. It doesn’t sound promising.

Only if you think Hughton is obfuscating. It’s 10 days away. Murray came back 7 days after being knocked out cold earlier this season.
