Car was the best option - left at 12.00 parked and in the ground at 2.15pm.

Left West Ham at 5.20 and back in Shoreham at 7pm. Plenty of time to go and have a few pints down the local.

We got there not long after 6 and got the 6.36 fast train back to Brighton.

That's not bad then, about the same time as me so looks like i didn't save as long as i'd hoped. Although I'm still glad I didn't wait, i'm far too impatient for a queue like that!

I managed to get the 6.05 back to Brighton, was in my front door at 7.15

Got in my door at 7.30, then had the nicest curry I've had for ages. How was the chinese? Just managed to get a seat on the 6.17.

To be fair the queue moves pretty quick once you're in it, usually Plaistow is the best bet, but we got to the station early so about 10 minutes if that. The way they do it is the quickest and easiest way, if they moved the queue onto the main road it would be carnage.

I was back in Seaford by 7:45. The queues at Upton Park move pretty quickly.

Small detail, but there won't be 33000 people at Falmer.

I've never seen so many puddles as there are around there. You need waders for some of them.

Drove to Dagenham Heathway station and parked there. Just off the A13 and five stops from Upton Park. £2.50 to park. Walked to East Ham station on the way back (about 30 mins). No queues there. Back in Mid Sussex by 6.45.

What a dump that whole area around Upton Park is. Can't imagine that some poor sods live there and have to put up with it every day. Makes you appreciate how great Sussex by the Sea is!!

Just as a matter of interest, what was the latest time anyone boarded a tube from Upton Park? Queue was crazy so we took a chance a followed some Hammers walking to the next station, reckon we must have saved at least an hour!

I walked down the Barking Road, got the 473 to North Woolwich, then got the ferry home :) :)
