Initially he copied Pochettino and Klopp with an energetic high press. It worked at times, but their inferior squad quality and depth was never going to maintain that over 38 PL games. It may have made injuries more likely and they’ve had some drubbings.

Then he tried to go all CH and build it on a mass, deep defence, but their crap strikers can’t nick winners.

Their problem is lack of knowledge of the PL by their Manager. He has recruited players that were good Championship players and carried them into the PL like Van La Para and Nakki Wells. They should have dropped them like a hot potato as soon as they got promoted and replaced them with better because they are taking up squad places although they might be getting wise to that now.

Well they did ok last season, Wells has gone this season, and my Town mates say Hogg is their most important player and he’s been with them for years.

Not sure if it's necessarily one or the other, or anything so recent. If you think back to our promotion season, they came to the Amex when topping the Championship and were passiveness personified. They just sat back and did next to nothing and fortunately a goalkeeping error from a speculative long-range effort from Knockaert earned us a late winner. By contrast, they played 'heavy metal' football in the return leg, of devastating intensity for a Championship club. We were made to look poor in that game but, as you indicate, it's unsustainable over a 38 game season let alone a 46 game one, and their squad lacks the depth and quality for it.
There are a few relegation candidates out there, but they look the most likely.

They continually shoot from distance because they can't counter attack quick enough to catch teams out on the ''turnover of possession'' and their strikers snatch at chances. Murray is not as good a player as their strikers but he is calmness personified and he doesn't miss many opportunities when they fall to him. We also have one of the best defensive partnerships in the league.

Huddersfield need to get good transfer business done in January or they are ''goners'' along with Burnley because all their scrappy 1-0 wins with goals from corners and free kicks have all but dried up. They haven't ''evolved as a squad since they have come up and that has made them and Huddersfield all to predictable.

Contrast that with ourselves and you see a team whose Championship star men are starting to become squad players. Our recruitment has been far more measured and we have tended to integrate the new arrivals a more sustainable pace so that not to upset the rythmn of the match day squad

Huddersfield were lucky to stay up last season. They got points early but really struggled in the second half of the season. 2018 has been a poor set of results but I cannot see how they will turn it around

Yes, I too think they are destined for the drop as the Wagner magic seems to have disappeared. I took a look at their fan forum a couple of days back, and most there seem resigned to relegation, but keep alive the prospect that January transfer dealings might save them. It will probably be their last throw of the dice.

Thanks for that. Out of interest, if the Ozzies make the final, say, and in the interim period he becomes fit to play, can hudds then use him, as he presumably can't travel if they have named a full squad? Or is he banned, so to speak, until they are out of the tournament.

Yes, but without him Australia are less well equipped to do well - so we may see Matty back earlier than expected.

Yes, we can but hope, but it will also be interesting to se how our keeper performs tomorrow -they may surprise us yet, and will be desperately keen to make an impression.

Mooy hurt his knee earlier in the month and was ruled out for 8 weeks. Australia bizarrely called him up in order to get a second opinion, which confirmed his injury, and they have now replaced him. If he recovers well then he might return to Huddersfield earlier than if he had played in the Asian tournament. Huddersfield hope he may be fit at the end of January . He’ll be a big miss for them. But they really need to pick up a striker in the transfer window.

Frazer would say that they're doomed.

A win at Craven Cottage however would throw all the above in doubt.

Ah yes, slating our club for being slow to act, despite the fact we were promoted a few weeks earlier, while Huddersfield were making amazing signings.
