So Huawei get the green light on 5G. What do you reckon? Better to go all-in with a humungous future trading partner, or risk the wrath of a thoroughly discredited bullyboy DOTARD of a US president whose every retarded decision will hopefully be reversed by his successor?

It is all political. All the mobile networks have already rolled out Huawei within their networks. Unless the government was going to be giving them cash back, no way it was going to be anything else.

Trump is protecting US companies competing with Huawei.

China already owns most of what we have over here

If it gives us 5g so people can stream better quality porn faster, then great.

Be interested to know what businesses in the UK, infrastructure etc is actually British owned.

I don't particularly want my data exposed to Huawei technology.

Beyond that, I hope the Chinese don't harvest too much from the rest of the population either - particularly any DNA data which is stored and potentially transmitted at some point. I wouldn't want them using it to build a bio weapon.

Trump is having a trade war with China so is trying to block Huawei and pretending it's a security issue. I have a Huawei phone so can't be that fussed about it I guess :)

I’m wary of 5G in general. Having it controlled by a repressive communist state doesn’t inspire my confidence.

I have to confess I have a very small vested interest in this. So make what you will of my comments.

It is partially about trade wars, but certainly not all. They have “acquired” a lot of knowledge over the years.

In general you need to be careful what you wish for. They are cheap “for now” let’s revisit once we have sold the Crown Jewels off to them.......
There are Several non American/Chinese companies that supply this 5g infrastructure as well. They cant normally do it as cheaply as Huawei.

Personally I don’t trust them one bit. That said, I don’t Trust Trump one bit either. Or should that be byte

Incredible that we don't have the ability to do this ourselves

It's all a moot point - the Chinese won't be able to deliver on the contract if they've been wiped out by Coronovirus.

Exactly. My mate Dave is BRILLIANT with computers and all that sort of stuff. He can unlock phones and do crazy things with a firestick . I'm sure he could sort it out if he was given a chance.

Phew! Lucky escape eh? Luckily nobody's invented international air travel, or sold off large chunks of Brighton slums to jerry-build accomodation for fee-paying Chinese students

Probably best to give up your smart phone and broadband. If you want to avoid Huawei technology it would be best not use the internet at all then give how much infrastructure they've supplied here and globally.

Better tell that to British nuclear fuels then as they own most of our nuclear technology
