@HWT had a great idea last night, to lock this thread. Never too late.

It would’ve prevented spiteful trolls posting their class warrior bull on a respectful thread.

In a way it seems a shame to shut down a thread dedicated to someone who has given such service to the country for so many years because some people can’t be respectful. It feels like their crassness would have won out over decency.

Those who want to use this thread to push another agenda will be thread banned. If they persist they’ll get a holiday from NSC.

Sad news indeed.
A fine man who served his country well in wartime with the royal navy and in peacetime with his royal duties and his award scheme.
As others have said He was one of those that has always been around so it adds to the loss when they have passed away
Obviously his family will feel the loss more and my thoughts go out to them but especially to her majesty the Queen who Is a fantastic lady, and it makes me sad to think she will be feeling sad so I hope she will be ok.
Rest in Peace Prince Phillip.
And genuine thoughts and prayers to the Queen also.

Yep - I think I'd second (or third) that.

Fair enough, I suppose - please make sure it happens.

It would be nice to close this thread now with an RIP. Any other type of chat could be put on a new thread. x

Now the dust has settled I will apologize for my comment yesterday. There’s a time and a place for what I typed, and this thread and yesterday wasn’t either. I’ll leave it here.

I couldn’t see a more recent thread about Prince Philip.

Amazing music being played by the military bands so far, simply stunning. What a send off.

Whether it's a wedding, coronation, funeral, or whatever, NOBODY can do it better than us.

Ditto. I’m a softie at any funeral, even televised ones.

So interesting over the last week learning much about Prince Philip. He wasn’t the guy portrayed. Great dry wit, incredible with military veterans, intelligent. RIP old fella.
