[Drinking] Hows dry January going?

I've just totted up my drinking over the whole festive period from the 22nd. I've drunk 68 cans of strongbow, 3/4 of a bottle of JD, a bottle of Baileys and had 2 visits to the pub before Christmas eve with 8 pints each time.

I need to lay off it. My liver and kidneys must be absolutely ****ed.

2020 kicked me in the bollocks so ****ing hard personally with a multitude of other problems without including this damn virus.

New job though and intending to get back on the mountain bike for a woodland blast on the way to work and back most days from Tuesday.

One evening midweek and weekends for me only now hopefully is the plan. If I suddenly knock it on the head I'll probably go into some kind of withdrawal shock.

Last night was the first day of the festive period I didn't drink a bottle of wine. I had 4 pints APA, 4 cans jaipur and a few glasses of port. Feel a bit rough.

Have already got some AF beer/wine . . .plan is to do dry January and try and be sensible thereafter . . . . Failed in that the last 2 years. I think one mid week eve and weekends is a good/sensible option.

Have you started the new job yet Spongy?

Just came home from the party... so far so good on the "not too much weed, bro" resolution... no one had any... did do some ketamine, amphetamine and gin though. But no weed!

Well, that's 2020 for you. Bummer.

I'm aiming to buy no booze or naughty food but have no problem bingeing on what's in. The NY cut off is Sunday for me.

Absolutely $hit. Just polished off bottle of Malbec.

PS Just heading over to the 'like a drink too much thread'

Same for me (Sunday) after the game, but I'm so pathetically weak willed that it'll probably some time in the spring.

I stopped drinking in December 2019. I had a heavy cold over Christmas that year and didn't feel like it and then never started drinking again. I wasn't a heavy drinker (few beers a week, a couple at the match) but I really don't miss it. Perhaps when pubs are back open on hot summer days I might relapse but I'm not feeling the need at the moment and haven't all through 2020. Good luck to those giving it a break this new year.
