How Would You Improve The Ticketing System?

You have to remember how THICK some Albion fans are. There were several times last season when I was queing up to pick up a ticket before the game and the stewards were asking people their sirnames, in order to direct them to the correct queue (people seem incapapable of reading the sign) There were so many people who were rude to the stewards and refused to give their name or initial. "What's it got to do with you jobs worth" being the favourite line

Everyone is blaming the club, but if people have to book their tickets so late that they have to collect them, they should at least turn up early to collect them

Er no signs last night, I had to walk to the front to ask what the system was and the young steward seem confused himself. 500 people trying to get tickets all at once with one little window open and the tickets in no order. We could all see somone needed to take control of the situation.

I am not here to run the club down but it was a shambles last night and they are lucky nothing serious happened, only avioded by openeing the gates for a free for all.

Being a season ticket holder and somone who normally collects tickets from the shop I avoid seeing this and think everyone is just whinging when I read NSC, well that person is me today unfourunatly.

I want the club to learn from this and be open on why things went wrong, who was in charge, why was the situation allowed to esculate, why were lessons not learned from the Chealsea youth team game, what could have been the conseqences.

There are some great sugestions on this link alone.

I know EVERYONE can not turn up 45 mins before the game, but I am sure a huge % of ther people in that queue could have either bought the ticket in advance OR turned up earlier.

There hae been times in the past when I have had to queue, due to arriving late, but I accept that as my fault as I only decided to book on the day

But why the hell SHOULD people turn up 45 minutes before a game just to make sure they can get their ticket in time to get in for the game ? I think we're losing sight of the fact that the fan is a PAYING CUSTOMER. That means the club should be doing all it can to provide an adequate service to cater for that customer, ESPECIALLY at the prices they are having to charge for a ticket.

Forcing fans to turn up nearly an hour before kickoff because they've not got enough booths or trained staff to deal with fans turning up to collect their tickets is shoddy, amatuer, and PISS POOR customer service. If I buy a ticket, I do NOT expect to have to spend a large slab of my matchday afternoon or evening having to queue for the f***ing thing.

I agree 45 mins is a bit much, but if people turmed up ealier, there would not be such a queue.

Of course there would be a queue, just as bad only it would just start 45 minutes earlier.

You are trying to defend the indefensible here-the club's ticketing process is a frigging shambles from start to finish and it is costing them revenue. I decided that I wouldn't bother going last night and that looks like an inspired choice on my part. For their part, the club lost a ticket sale-not just last night but for any future game that my season ticket isn't valid for. Until they sort it out that is.

I.

Well if there was only one window open, I am sure even some of the less intelligent amongst us could work out which window to queue at?

I doubt the queue would be as large, becuase in reality, there would be a tricke affect. Not everyone would turn up 45 mins before KO, or indeed 5 mins before KO.

The system is poor, but some fans should use a bit more common sense. Anyway, gives you all something to moan about after such a good start on the pitch

A lot of people are saying the staff need to be "trained" to hand out tickets - it cannot be that difficult - you ask for name, and address, and you give the ticket - training done!!!

Would it not help to have a different ticket collection point for each stand? The north stand could be in the car park, the east stand could be the existing point & the south stand could be nearer the turnstiles. If you order your tickets over the phone or internet they could tell you which collection point to go to ( a bit like they do in the argos shop )

I think the issue will be it would have to be voulanteer staff, and how many people would sign up for that?

Stewards have to concentrate on stopping people having fun and creating an atmosphere, so that is them ruled out.

Ticket office staff already working 9-5 in the day, and then asked to work on until 8ish in the evening, meaning 11 hour days, and again, I dont know how keen club staff would be to do that? So that rules them out

Could there be kind hearted fans willing to give up there time and do this free of charge or very little money?

Offer fans the chance to do this on match day and get free entry to the game?

many people do 12+ hour days doing much more intense work than working in a shop , pay the people and it shouldnt be a problem

But then why don't the club just run like a business, and EMPLOY people on a 4 hour contract to do it?? Teenagers looking for their first jobs would do it - and from personal experience, i know that people ask for saturday jobs at the club and get turned away.

Have yo ever been to an Odeon cinema?

I book online, take the credit I booked with to a machine, shove it in, it spews out the tickets.

Incredibly quick, fool proof and easy.

Then you just need a couple of people to deal with any queries that might arise.

That sort of thing could work out well at Famler, but I would doubt it could be done at Withdean?

I do not usually moan but got caught up in this last night. The majority of people in the q were new and causal fans who arrived with 20 to 30 minutes to collect their tickets. People with young kids, family groups, this was not a bunch of drunk blokes rolling up from the pub at the last minute.

The club were disorganised, no one took control of the situation and it was only resolved by opening the gates and letting people run in.

The majority of the q were waiting like me for over half an hour with little sign of any movemnet. If they asked me to colect the ticket from the club shop or get there early I would.

When I phoned and asked when I need to collect it by, I was given no time scale and trusted sufficent staff and system would be in place.

In future I will learn from this and use my common sense to hopefuly never pick up my ticket from the ground 25 minutes prior to kick off.
