How the hell did we lose so much control over the game WE invented ? ? ?

Ah, well what happened there was, when FIFA formed, the FA didn't take them seriously and refused to compete etc. By the time we started to compete and join the roots had already taken hold, and the rest is history. I believe we were actually offered special dispensations and privaledges if we joined when FIFA formed, and for long time afterwards. See, even then The FA didn't have a clue.

No competitive matches until kids reach high school age to allow them to concentrate on skills training.

get rid of sepp blatter

That would be a good start.

The final whistle always bugs me - not a big problem, but the end of the game should be done properly, not when the ref chooses to blow, after the next attack etc. Either the whistle should be blown dead on time (after time added on), whatever is happeneing on the pitch, or when the ball next goes out of play, as in rugby.

This. They should stop the clock when the ball is out of pay as well (like NBA). 90 minutes should be 90 minutes.

Remove Sepp Blatter. The man's a blundering buffoon.
Modern technology needs to be introduced. Football's no longer a 'game' per se, it's a business. There's too much at stake these days and when blatant decisions are incorrectly given, it can cost sides dearly ( Man U v QPR yesterday )
Wage cap. Mario Ballotelli doesn't deserve, earn or need £200k per week. All it's done is teach him how to 'lord it' over other people and behave like a spoilt cock

Th eproblem with the ten yard rule was that it was rarely used due to refs only being allowed to use it if they yellow carded the dissenter. if they could do it as soon as players started mouthing off it would be very effective. As a rider, the attacking team should be allowed to take the ball backwards if they don't want to get too close to be able to get the ball up and down.

I'd allow 4th officials to tell refs if video evidence quickly shows a manifest error. Just because every decision can't be corrected doesn't mean they shouldn't use all means available to get them as good as possible.

1 Wage cap in each division eg Div 2 £1500 per week, Div 1 £2500 pw Championship £5000 pw. Premier £10,000 until club can prove they are trading at a profit and able to pay a higher rate then a limit of £50,000 pw.

I accept that some of the money seems ludicrous and disproportionate, especially to us the supporters, but I cannot help thinking that this point is based on envy and nothing to do with improvement of the game.

With modern technology, the problem is that if it's introduced for fouls and other infringements, there's still going to be an awful lot of controversy. Take the penalty in the Utd game yesterday: if we forget the offside for a minute, are you suggesting we introduce video replays for dubious free kicks? There was contact in the penalty area, so it was technically (according to the Laws of the Game) a penalty, regardless of whether the striker dived. The QPR player was also the last man, so he must therefore have been sent off. You hear pundits in the studio afterwards; they have all the time in the world to look at replays and use their knowledge of the game to make their own mind up - they still never seem to fully agree.

It's the same with any tackle and any pushing and shoving - there will always be this grey area, where some people say there's contact so it should be a de facto free kick, and others who say we need to use common sense. What about the advantage rule? There will be no consensus if play ahould be allowed to continue.

Video replays work well in cricket and tennis because the game stops frequently, between each serve. Same in rugby, you have distinct phases of play that means it is easy to use a TV umpire to rule on black-and-white decisions. Even in these cases, a video umpire is not infallible. Instant feedback for offside and ball-over-the-goalline I'm all in favour of, but any more than that is something I don't agree with. Constant stoppages to review decisions will be time-consuming, and ruin the flow of the game. And if there's one complaint I hear a lot about modern day refs, it's that they don't let the game flow.

What we really need is better consistency among officials, better communication between linesmen and referees, and more powers for the fourth official.

I would change the offside law. Abolish the "not interfering with play" exemption, and exempt offside when the attacking side touches the ball legally in the opposing penalty area.

Video replays work well in cricket ... because the game stops frequently ... Even in these cases, a video umpire is not infallible.

In fact, the last test series against Sri Lanka has revealed great unhappiness with the video replay system. We had the spectacle of both teams' managers invading the match referee's office to complain about a video decision. And I believe that there are plans afoot to re-examine how the video system is being used.

If in a slow-moving game like cricket, the video replay system can't be trusted to get things right, I see little hope of it solving football arguments.

Instant yellow for arguing
5 minute sin bin swearing AT officials
10 minute sin bin for diving, 3 dives in a season is a 1 match ban.
free kicks and penalty's to only be given if the contact is enough for the player to lose balance (might be hard to incorporate but im sure there must be a way)
Offside if any player is in front of defenders when ball is played
instead of added on time, time gets stopped for every interruption
only yellow cards for dangerous tackles
if you win the ball no foul
refs should be made to do a T.V interview after the game

Take the money out of the game - how I don't know, but it's killing the sport. How can anyone justify being payed more in a week than most people earn in 5 years??

1) Wage Cap
2) Referees who apply the law.
3) Retro 5 game bans for anyone proved to dive, and a 3 pts deducation for any side to have won a game through diving or cheating. We'd probably never see another dive on a football pitch.

Here, there and everywhere
1. Forensic investigation into Sepp Blatter
2. Don't sell tickets to Euros or World Cups until the teams have been drawn
3. Be allowed to keep the lids on water bottles
4. No playoffs, just 1st 2nd and 3rd

4th official a retired ref with access to video and miked up to ref. Not to delay hgame as such but if he spots that a pl;ayer has cheated, even after play has restarted, he can advise ref.

Most things can be seen before play restarts anyway, as in the QPR pen incident.

1 - Banish the stupid rule that a player must go off the pitch and come back on when injured. If he is fit to play then carry on with him on the pitch.
2 - Crowding of officials is an immediate yellow card.
3 - The fa can still ban a player even if the ref only gave them a yellow for an incident (i.e didnt realise the seriousness of the situation)
4 - Players who pretend to be headbutted are given a match ban.
5 - Diving (proven after the match) is an automatic ban.
6 - Goal music BANNED.

Regarding the 10 yard free kick rule, it just DOESN'T work.
Football is not a TERRITORY based sport like rugby. A free kick from 45 yards knocked into the area is the same as a free kick from 55 yards.
Now, if they allowed the team to DECIDE whether they actually wanted the 10 yards then that may have worked.

I remember one situation where the free kick was 10 yards outside the area in IDEAL striking range for Beckham. The opposition argued and the ref moved the ball 10 yards closer. It actually made it HARDER for Becks to take his free kick.
