Yup, need it. Bring it to me or I'm going to write everything in small green Impact until it happens.

Facebook marketplace. Great place to get rid of stuff imo.
I know we have a Classifieds sub forum, but it doesn't seem very active. Due to the unexpected find of a new 3 piece suite that actually fits our lounge, I need to sell/ give away our existing one by the end of October to anyone who can collect and take away. Ebay failed me this week. Chestnut Tree House and British Heart Foundation can't collect in time and nor can the Council. Does anybody in the hive mind that is NSC suggest a solution. It's only 8 years old and in pretty good nick, so it would be a shame to have to saw it up and take it to the tip. Free to a good home/charity if they can collect by the end of the month.
ive been trying to give away a brown (teak i think) 50s wardrobe but there are dozens of them even on facebook and no takers even for free!. Some idiots wanting like £200+ for ones that look almost identical to mine then i thought maybe im the idiot trying to give it away. then i noticed they had been trying to sell it since February..Irony is a need a workstation/computer desk and there is enough wood there to make one. i have some spare metal legs too so maybe i'll keep it after all and make it an upcycling project.. time to rewatch the Money For Nothing episodes on BBC iPlayer fr some inspiration.
Several years ago my elderly parents, non car owners, disposed of an entire 3 piece suite over the course of several months by breaking it up and taking small pieces, sometimes in my mum’s handbag, with them every time they went into town or on the bus to bingo and dropping them in public bins in several Sussex towns.
I’m not sure any charity can accept it unless it has a fire resistance label still attached.
I had one to get rid off a couple of years ago, couldn’t give it away, it ended up at the tip.
We moved house a year ago - downsizing to save money, and the trinkets from my wealthy days were up for grabs. £7,500 Natuzzi sofa - I wanted £500 for it. No takers. I ended up taking £95 for it, as long as I could help move it!
Solid oak furniture, I ended up giving away to a charity. Samsung american style double fridge freezer with twin doors and an ice dispenser... £200? No takers. £100 as long as I delivered it to Hastings.
People want shiny new stuff these days. If it's not, they want it for buttons - or preferably free.
Maybe we're just too used to new things being cheap and accessible. I have a feeling this will change...
Yep that's exactly the problem l had with my old suite a few years ago, Horsham Matters came to collect but couldn't take it for this very reason. A visible fire resistance label is now a legal requirement.
If it wasn't such a bulky item you could almost leave it on the pavement outside your house and someone would be sure to take it. The local council may have something to say though.
First you need to remove the arms...
...legs and head.
If the torso has no distinguishing features just bleach it and sling it in the woods.
Burn the legs.
Smash out the teeth, try to resist the urge to keep one.
Acid bath the hands and head.
You should be able to get rid over the course of a couple of days.
Happy to help.
My three seater settee in the music room is stuffed with horse hair, is that safe? It was made in the early 30's.
Are you related to John Haigh the acid bath murderer per chance?
