Bang on mate. We are in the quarter flaming finals. There are some pretty good teams who would love to have acheived what we have in this tournament, and a pretty darn good team is going to be eliminated tonight.

With all the negativity surrounding the England team in this competition I get the feeling that many would have preferred us to fulfill the plucky loser role that mexico did last night.

We did the job today. Ok it was not spectacular
but it was good enough, and we were the better team and deserved it, same as the other games. I for one am sick of heroic defeats, if I have to put up with ugly wins then I guess I'll just have to live with it.

Sweden have been poor in this competition.
Trinidad & Tobago are a very poor team.
Paraguay are a poor team.

It's great that we're through, don't get me wrong. But we've been awful. Even by playing badly I would expect us to be where we are.

But Mr Sven has the best set of England players for 30+years,and we are forced to play 10 year old Italian tactics - without the tackling,obviously- and contrive to make poor sides look good and ourselves bad at the same time.

Oh,yes,the history books will show we won,but we should be wiping the floor with these woeful non-runner teams.

Personally I think anyone that thinks this England team is going to win the WC is dreaming. I really really hope we do but it's the same sort of hope I had that Brighton would set the Championship alight with their play last season, heart over head.

I just think if you open the papers during the season its all headlines telling us how great Lampard, Terry, Rio etc are but how often are they caught out at the highest level - either Champions league or international?

Maybe its the fact they dont gel at international level? but then thats no reason why Terry looks dodge against class players for Chelsea and Lampard goes missing.

It could be the cxase they are arrogant? The whole "we play in the best league in the world" or maybe "we are the dogs bollocks because we are english?" Or in the case of Rio some believe their own press.

Beating Jamaica ( i think it was) 6-0 before the finals kicked off raised expectations too high! Then we go down the road of thinking we can roll over every country! It don't happen!

Sven is inadiquate but I really do believe we have the players capable of winning this World Cup!
