Thought we played quite well in patches, if just a couple of the through balls had worked and Lampard wasn't in banjo and cow arse's form we could have scored more and won comfortably. Except England don't do that do they :)

Way out west
Did enough to get the result and set us up for either Portugal or the Netherlands, both of whom are eminently beatable, so only one more game and it is a top 4 finish. That isn't a bad return when we haven't really fired on all cylinders yet, hopefully that is being saved for the next 3 games.

We beat Ecuador with difficulty! Woo-hoo!

We've not played any quality sides yet, but we're into the quarters! Woo-hoo!

We've been dull to watch and generally poor! Woo-hoo!

We will no doubt limp out as soon as we face anyone any good whatsover. Woo-hoo!

Nah, seriously, I'm made up with the win and am really up for Saturday down the boozer (another mid night kickoff!). I was just eager to see some flowing, exciting football to match the ARGIES. :clap2: Don't mean to complain - Ecuador suprised a few people this year and I reckon we can beat either Portugal or Holland, so here's to a first semi in 16 years! :clap2: :clap2: :drink:

Don't be too negative, you forget that we have WAYNE ROONEY, and with him and the rest of the team having to go for it anything could happen - we've hardly had to break sweat to get where were were, but when we need a gutsy attacking performance i hope there is one.

You have to look at each game on its own merits or otherwise. Today, we played better than in the last two games. Still not brilliant, not what we had been led to believe this team were capable of, but better.

And even if it wasn't a thriller, tactically that was a very interesting match.

We finally got to see Carrick in the holding role, and he played it very well.

Hargreaves is beginning to do what he always said he would, in fairness. Give him a couple of starts, and he'll show what he can do. He's certainly winning me over. and I'd choose him at right-back over Carragher, and possibly even Neville next time.

Even with Carrick in we still saw both Lampard AND Gerrard, and Lampard's place must now be under threat, especially if we go back to 4-4-2 at any stage.

I was worried with this formation that we wouldn't get the best out of Rooney. But you just can never underestimate the guy. He made it work, even if it isn't his natural role. Outstanding.

And as for Sven - well, that's 4 games now and he keeps saying we'll get better. I always thought par for us was the semis at least with this side, and we will need to improve again to do that.

Of course I want us to play well and win. BUT - the fact of the matter is we are in the quarters without being tested and without playing anyone of any real quality.

Unless we considerably improve we will be taken apart by either the Portuguese or the Dutch. My low expectations will cushion the blow.

We are AWFUL and I challenge anyone to prove evidence otherwise. And no, beating Ecuador (with difficulty), Paraguay (with difficulty) and Trinidad and Tobago (with difficulty), not to mention drawing with a poor Swedish side - is obviously no evidence at all.

Exactly! were there! Try & enjoy it!

I'm sorry, is that some kind of achievement?

If we'd have come through a difficult group or like Spain or Portugal faced difficult opposition then I would enjoy it.

I predict we'll fail when it comes to our first test.

But it will be a "glorious failure", it always is, hope we can blame the ref again too

Hope you will be able to add Portugal/Holland (with difficulty)
Brazil (with difficulty) and Germany (with or without difficulty)
