The post-Watford doom and gloom seems a long time ago now.

Since then, we've
* won all three games
* signed Ulloa
* drawn Arsenal at home in the cup and have more or less sold out already

The vibe is now twice as good as it was bad after Watford.

And amusingly, it is LOVELY to see the opposite happening at Chelsea isn't it? Losing to noddy local teams like QPR, one win in 6 at home, hated Spanish waiter in charge, Guardiola moving to Bayern. 4-5,000 empty seats at Chelsea last night. Very amusing.

Great Post Sir, it is a great time at the moment to follow this fantastic club, we have had difficult times, but recently its just been great to be a Brighton fan, hate chelski, so hope it all goes tits up there, and have Gullys girls not returned? All good and a great journey to come.....and hopefully snow!!

There isn't enough chuckling at Chelsea on this thread for my liking.

It is very amusing.

Now lets get back to saying how tremendous my post was

I thank my lucky stars that Tony Bloom isn't one of the doom and gloom merchants, if they had their way we would be like Blackburn on our third manager this season .

I think "expect" is overestimating our chances.

1 Cardiff 27 19 57
2 Hull 27 8 49
--------------
3 Leicester 27 25 47
4 Crystal Palace 27 15 47
5 Middlesbrough 27 9 47
6 Watford 26 12 43
--------------
7 Millwall 27 4 41
8 Brighton 26 10 40

Of that lot, the only team I can say with any confidence that we are going to finish above is Millwall. That said, we could as easily finish second as sixth, so obviously lots still to play for.

Agree.

We need to get amongst the teams on 47 the sooner the better IMO. Cardiff are gone !

Can make a case for finishing 2nd to 6th but then a case can be made for mid table.

We have lost the least games in the league so with the new signing it has to bode well.

As you say , all to play for. I hope if our game is off on sat then so are the rest of the top 6

Their best player is out for 6-8 weeks, and their full back whose been very good has returned to sunderland :)

Don't think they will make the playoffs.

The only thing of note that Steve Bruce has done as a manager is walk out on Palarse.

Cardiff are gone !

I think so too, the SF market is of interest

Cardiff/Leicester @ 7/2 isn't the worst bet in the world.
Maybe dutch with Cardiff/Middlesbrough @ 12/1

He did take Birmingham up to the Prem, twice, and usually (but not always) leaves his club in a higher position than when he joined. However, he is the biggest mercenary in football with the possible exception of 'arry the spiv so I never understand why a club would want to hire him.

To be fair, go back a couple of months and Palace fans were all on top of the world with their performances, results, and the prospect of getting Holloway.

Now, in spite of the fact that they are still WAY above where they ever expected to be in the league, many are questioning Holloway's tactical nous, and criticising the team's ability to concede late goals. Some of them are fed up with Zaha, who hasn't been on top form since before he was picked for England, and is showing signs of being a stroppy git (who knew...).

It's the life of the deluded football fan.

Pleasing to see Michael Appleton is making a strong run for this title too.

I think it says more about how stupid a lot of football fans / people are. It's a 46 game season, and I never understand why people get so down and dejected about losing a couple of games. And guess what, we'll go through another bad patch soon and all the morons will be out again saying how terrible we are and how Gus has taken us as far as he can etc. And then they'll all shut up when we get good again.

Excellent post. Couldn't agree more.
We are a work in progress and i am happy to see steady improvement under Gus please. It will make him a much better Manager to deal with loss of form and confidence within the team.....as you say it is a 46 game season FFS!

why i tend to avoid NSC after a game, whether its a loss or a win, as you get both sides of it, on 1 hand, we lose, so the world is going to end, we win, and were going to win the championship, and there is so much brown nosing, i can smell it from my PC

Spot on. The season lasts nine months and there are 46 games. 46! It should be patently obvious that there will be good and bad patches each lasting several matches and several weeks, and that this will be the fate of most teams except the very best or very worst. It should be obvious but it isn't, and instead you get every little run, good or bad, extrapolated into "We're going up!" or "We're in a relegation fight now." It's quite pathetic really, but I guess that's just the bi-polar nature of football fans. Couple of defeats and the new striker failing to score more than a goal or two and NSC will be all doom and gloom again. (And then we see the usual tedious threads: "How long has Poyet got?" and "Message for the moaners - look how far we've come!")

EDIT: Hmm. Seems I'm not the first person to agree with you!
