Two men from London have been sent to jail after being found guilty of defrauding two banks, Allied Irish Banks and Bank of Scotland, of £61m.

They have been given a total of 12 years. With good behaviour 6 years will have to served. I would not even have to think about doing a year for £10 million. I think I would want £150,000 tax free for a year.

So, what's your freedom worth?

Years ago I would have agreed. Six years to come out to a fortune seems a fair deal. But I wouldn't miss six years of my daughters life atm for any amount of money.

But presumably the money/assets are also being confiscated?

Completely depends whether I get a PlayStation, Sky TV and microwave in my cell like they do in most of the low security houses.

mmmm which low security house are you talking about, I can assure you they don't get sky TV or microwaves in cells. I presume you have been watching to much tv or reading the wrong papers. You can have your own playstation if you buy it yourself mind you.:bounce:

20 years but if you repay the money then you'll serve 7 years. If you don't repay the money then you'll serve 20 years without no possibility of prole.

You might want to do a quick Google search. Try; 'prison sky tv'.
Very bad use of the word 'assure'. :)

Some years ago my sons father in law was doing his stall at Ford Market and a prisoner was there most weeks cleaning up and they got quite friendly and chatty. It turned out he was an ex bank manager who got 5 years for fraud of £2.5m and said he only got 5 years because he admitted it and told the police how he did it so nobody else could do the same. He was at Ford preparing for his release and he told sons father in law that he knew he would be tracked and the money would be sort but he had hidden it away so that the authorities couldn't get at it and he laughed saying crime doesn't pay I am 50 years old retiring with £2.5m
