I wouldn't want Glenn to go but i sometimes wonder if he is happy here - he didn't have the best of starts this season maybe now he is trying to get himself noticed ready for the transfer window

Given that we sold Virgo for £1.5 million on that scale i would say Murray is worth £3 million

That is not a yardstick by which we can judge the price or value of Murray as everybody knows that Strachan was conned over the price of Virgo as it wasnt realistic in any position that he plays.

The Credit Crunch will also bring a downturn in transfer fes for January for ordinary players. The very best may still command high fees but the run of the mill will not.

Sorry, but can someone please explain how a single goal is worth 25k and a hatrick goal worth 50k. Why don't they all have the same value and also, how do you arrive at value for a goal. A goal scored to win a game is considerably worth more than a consolation goal having conceded 4. A goal scored in the first game is not worth as much as the winning goal in a play off final.

Absolutely ludicrous to try and arrive at a value on this basis. You haven't even included any value for assists!

Why was Strachan conned? He must have had the player seen before buying so he took a punt. A stupid punt in my opinion but a punt nonetheless. It didn't pay off. Not what I would call a con.

He is rubbish, always offside, cant be arsed to run, cant take penalties, and cant be bothered to celebrate.

He needs to lose some class, and run around more - USELESS

We have been crap ever since Revell left!!! Cannot wait til HART is fit, so we can play him upfront with Virgo

It was only a bit of fun Drew, Its not like I spent four years at Sussex Uni trying to work out the formula, it was 50k per goal because hatricks grab attention. I know there is not a scientific way of reaching a value for players its just what somebody is prepared to pay. Maybe i should submit all my posts to you to be approved before making any more;)

Joe Garner cost Forest £1.1 million, his record for Carlisle was: 50 appearances, 48 starts, 19 goals. However, he is 4 years younger than Murray.

I think that Garner left Carlisle because there was a clause in his contract that allowed him to leave if another club bid over £1M. There was no way that Carlisle would have wanted to sell him for that amount.

Regarding transfer fees there are usually two factors - does he need to be sold or does a club desperately want to buy him? Towards the end of the Jan window there is a sort of panic that sets in with clubs at the top and bottom of the leagues (especially bottom of Prem and top of Championship). Realism doesn't come into it and at these times you can forget any sensible valuation. If a club can't get in those they wanted and they believe that safety or promotion lies in the balance then you will see some stupid bids for lower league players.

In the eyes of plenty of our "fans" he is worth a big fat zero, it would not surprise me at all he will wantsout in January

He is still young and he has proven he is a great goalscorer, even without too much quality behind him.

I'd say his value is very high right now. I'd put him in the top 5 most valuable strikers in League 1.

And personally I'd be livid if we were to let him go for less than about £800k.

Although let it be noted that I'd not like to see him go at all
