How much for Thomson?

Not a case of when but how much now?

Given that St. Miren are in the SPL (or at least I think they are), I am quite hopeful of getting at least £50,000 for him.

Unfortunatley things never worked out for Thomson down here, and can only wish him the best of luck back in the SPL.

f*** off the both of you. You both live up north so presumably see the odd away game. thomson is quality - he's not fantastic but always does a f***ing job, unlike some of the squad

Woah woah woah sunshine, read my post again. Especially the last line.

Thinking of things from an Albion point of view in getting money here.

Ok yes maybe a bit harsh.

But his last line says thigns didn't work out for Thomson down here. I think you'll find he was a quality member of our team for the last year, and if he was to go we'd miss him a great deal. If we can replace him, then ok, but I can't see where from.

Yes I am drunk

Ahh maybe why, but you summed up what I meant really, it is a shame that a player who was captaining a team in the Scottish Premier League was not able to settle down here as I do not believe him to be as bad as some made him out to be. Yes I may have criticised him on a few occasions, but yes I do that with all the players, that's just my way.

Thomson had the chance to be a quality signing for us, and a free signing at that, but for reasons beyond the clubs control we never had the opportunity to see him at his potential.

I therefore wish him the best for the rest of his career.

Ok bit of toast and I make be making more sense.

What are you judging his potential by? Goals? Assists? He joined us just after we lost Dean Hammond, who had been so key in our medfield for a long time. You need a hard-working, play linking centre midfielder, and given the shite our defence and wingers have given him, I think Thomson has done well here, and reached his "potential".

If he's off and we can replace him, then ok, but I think people will realise that all the excitement that Thornton and Johnson can provide doesn't actually make the side tick.

Potential as in he was captain of one of the best teams in Scotland (in the top 12), so therefore he must have had the leadership qualities to be in charge on the field and boss the midfield, and I am afraid that the times I've seen him play he hasn't shown himself to be a leader, vocally or physically, but I have only seen him 7/8 times. Maybe now people may realise how important Hammond was to the team and what he gave.

Have we had a decent attacking midfielder since who looks like they can get us 12 goals a season?

He had one good season for us (lots of those goals were from the penalty spot). Last season he was pretty dire and we mugged Colchester for a decent fee.

Since he left, 27 appearances for Colchester 1 goal.

Look at it this way... we got him for free so any money is a plus. Being in Turkey I only SAW Thompson twice and both times he showed obvious potential but seemed way too timid to take control of the midfield.

I'd liek tot hink that had nothing to do with issues on the pitch but it is a disappointment nevertheless. Whatever, this is now the time for Livermore and Fraser to step up to the plate. El Bad and Virgs are only short term solutions and not very good ones at that.

We'd be lucky to get £50k - most likely £25k/30k up front then up to £20-30k maximum more depending on appearances.

I think I must be thinking of a different player. I thought we were talking about Steve Thomson, the waste of space in the Brighton midfield. He hs a knack of always being ten yards away from the ball, yet still never really showing for it. He's a central midfielder. Has he ever bossed a game in the blue and white? I'm gutted, not because he is leaving, but because I was really excited when we signed him but he has amounted to nothing.
