I only ever drink at weekends, occasionally the odd weeknight.

I am afraid the 6 units per bottle of wine is old hat. Most decent wine is 13-14% which is 9-10 units per bottle.
Saw a programme on TV recently about 3 ordinary people, workers, mums etc who drank wine in the evenings to unwind , none of them considered themselves to have a drink problem and they drank 80, 90 and 110 units a week.
Richard Hammond did a weekly diary and had a couple of nights out , a big session but did not go mad and followed his normal week and clocked up 56 units. He said he had been doing the same for 15 years. His Liver function test was normal as where the other 3.
If you a bloke and having any sort of social life to drink within 21 units a week is very hard.

I reckon during the darkest days of my alcoholism I would drink 15 bottles of wine a week (always had 3 bottles on a Saturday), plus between 3 and 6 bottles of spirits (rarely drank beer) ... I daren't work out how many units that was .... I was rarely pissed as I would usually black out before doing anything really stupid.

when i was still in the RN and based in Collingwood, working behind the bar in the senior rates bar i would quite easily down at least a gallon a night nothing to be proud of i know. now i only go out once a week and have 5 or 6 pints on a sunday.

Not really a drinker me. I don't really like any alcoholic drinks. But if I want to get pissed (i.e. when Leeds win, which is about twice a year, I'll have 4/5 shots of sumbuca).

I remeber one lads holiday a week in Malta and from the moment i hit Gatwick i didn't stop drinking till the weeknd after we returned finished - i got the terrible shakes, didn't have a solid shit for a fortnight and god did i get pangs of pain from my liver and kidney region never again musthave done 200 units plus that week no problem.

I have a few before a game, then the rest on a Friday or a Saturday night. My trouble is I drink like a fish.
I never drink during the week, but end up going mad at the weekend. Its the binge culture of this country, if all your mates are down the pub then you'll join them.

The landlord of my local pub had to guess how much he drank and smoked for the dentist.
When reading the form the dentist laughed and said 'Do you really drink 70 pints a week and smoke 30 fags a day'
After a short pause he replied 'Probably a bit more than 70, I average 10 pints a day but I tend to go for it on Monday nights'
