:lolol::lolol: Our resident loon from Aberdeen often ended up like this after a day out ,missing trains ,planes and ending up anywhere but Aberdeen . Often he'd not find the score till he looked in a paper on Sunday . The turning point came after a dodgy rough sleep in Glasgow in September 18 after a game at Fylde ,he hasn't touched a drop since .Good man ,though bar midweek games he didn't miss a game this season .Watching Aldershot without a beer

I double check the score on Twitter, sometimes my wife asks me the score. :lolol:

My 16 year old lad has been coming along to non league games, earlier in the season we went to watch a Peacehaven game, usually I have a few drinks after the match, but we came back at about 5pm this day.
Mrs said " oh you are home early " I said " match was abandoned as the floodlights failed" the boy piped up " lights went out at half time " Mrs then said " you're not home early then" :lolol:
He will learn. :D

One of my other lads actually got me into non league.
He's 22 now but when he was at school he asked me to take him to Lewes FC as a few of his classmates went. He would go off with his friends when we got to the ground, occasionally returning for money for food or drink from me, I found I was really enjoying the football even though I was on my own.

As others have said. Missing the journey down chatting on the train, the cheeky pint in the Evening Star before heading up to Falmer. Standing in the sunshine, or even in the rain, with a pint of Harveys outside the ground, having a laugh with mates from other parts of the ground and watching the fans go by. Missing the pie and inevitable couple more pints on the West Upper concourse in the final hour before kick off. Then afterwards, catching up with those mates in the North Stand for the debrief and more laughs, and of course more beer. Not missing the football so much, football is the catalyst for all the other things on a match day, the glue of the shared experience that helps hold those friendships together, it doesn't really matter if we win or lose most of the time, what matters is that we are all there.

I am not missing the game itself nearly enough to make attractive the prospect of watching it on TV from an empty neutral stadium, that is not football to me. Therefore I have little or no interest in football until it can resume in the way that it matters for fans like myself. Those that like to watch in on TV may take a different view, but fans that go to games want to go to games.

This, bar the train as I walk into the City Centre before I start the sesh. Just void the season for **** sake, It's a joke that they want to continue it. I also think we'll go down too as we do react to the fans, once we make some noise, at home and even sometimes away, just like most teams. Plus, we've also been piss poor this season in a lot of games. Without fans, all integrity goes. Don't get me started on the neutral venues.

I do miss the actual football too, but most of the day is usually about having a laugh with your mates. It'll be quite something once we are FINALLY back, however, football is secondary in such a crisis like this. I just wish the authorities would see this also and get out of their bubble.

Missing it a bit but not that much. Ultimately this situation is reminding us all what is a) vital and b) a luxury and entertainment falls into b) but I hope entertainment comes back as soon as is safe to do so.

I don't miss staying up till the wee hours for televised games.
I do miss watching the replays the next morning and reading the matchday thread, which was usually very amusing.

I miss football! I'd give a lot to hear Warren Aspinal commenting on an Albion away game along with J C. Following the Albion is what gives spice and drama to this humdrum life. The joy of a good result ,the sadness at a bad one .
I want it back, but only only on the right basis and when it is safe for everyone. I do not support this plan they call Project Restart.

Here
I miss the infrequent nights of deep satisfied sleep on the odd occasion when we win. I don't miss the more frequent fractious disturbed worried semi-sleepless nights of tossing and turning when we get beat.

More characters stand out at that level. In my late teens i really got into hopping ,doing over 100 games a season 3 seasons running . Always had mates not fussed about drinking midweek so they'd drive to places like Dorking ,Steyning ,Crowborough,Brockenhurst etc .I got back into Aldershot home and away full time about 20 years ago so lapsed a bit . Though any free Saturday i'll find a game and put a few quid on the gate and social club and that's how it should be.

With all the discussion about how, when and where football might resume to complete this season, it suddenly struck me, quite surprisingly, that I am not actually missing it in the slightest.

Although yes, I am looking forward to going to games again, and I couldn't even contemplate never going again, there is no major gap in my life without it right now.

Putting aside the obvious bigger picture of what is going on right now, is anyone else not really missing their weekly fix?

In all honesty, I'm not missing it that much. I think I needed a break.

And it is certainly making me re-evaluate football and my relationship with it.

I've lost all respect for players. I think the way they have handled themselves during this crisis is poor. There may well be other people who have escaped the public ire (e.g. hedge fund managers who have made a killing) but they don't run around kissing the badge on a Saturday afternoon.

I think that Tony Bloom, Paul Barber et al have done a great job but they are few and far between. The Premier League and FA are just interested in their 'brand'.

When football comes back I will have to see how I feel. Right now I think I would rather see fewer games and maybe see more non-league football and cricket.

I don't need football to be the all encompassing drug that maybe it once was. I'll enjoy a different pace of life and enjoy seeing family and friends much more.

It's all supposition at this stage but as football is life, like life, I don't want it all to go back to the way it was before.

I'm missing the cut and thrust of Championship games, meeting supporters from 'real' clubs in great Putney pubs and the bants with the people who sit near me at the Cottage and with other Brighton Cottagers. This season, another (hopefully) great day out at Wembley was beckoning. Having said that, I'm always quietly relieved when the season ends for a couple of months off of not being so stressed. I'm enjoying the extra time for cycling and running in a quieter countryside.:cheers:

Like others have said, I'm missing it as part of my "normal" life, rather than outright missing it.

I miss games with my mates, but I'd quite happily take a night at the pub (or even indoors) with them, no football, right now. Where it's actually hitting me quite weirdly is having none to dip into on TV. We've two young kids and me and the Mrs are quite often either catching up on work in the evenings or doing something out individually. Adding in working from home and home schooling and I'd say pretty much every night one of us is up in the bedroom working or zoom chatting to friends. Normally if she was upstairs/out I'd put some random footy on TV if I was by myself, as I find watching films or TV series alone is pretty boring.
