[Albion] How Many THOUSAND Phone Chargers Will The Club Provide Before Watford?

I dont have a smarty phone. I was thinking of bringing my monopoly game the limited edition Newcastle united. If anyone fancies a game? I just need to work out if i can fold it up and put it in my a4 size bag. TBH its slightly larger do you think the stuarts will have a tape measure with them checking all bags on the 3rd hurdle to jump before entering the turnstyles?

When I travelled to Hereford on the club coach to see Peter Ward's scoring debut I had the presence of mind to bring along my travel chess set with the intention of whiling away a few hours with a like minded fellow traveller.
My travelling companion was horrified and expressly forbade me from unearthing it from my man bag, which caused him equal consternation

So the club has put out a perfectly sensible message to turn up early because there is clearly more admin needed to get into the ground.

This is exactly what happened at all the euro2021 games, which were all also smartphone entry. There you got given slots to turn up an ours was 2 hours before.

We rocked up an hour before and no-one gave a monkeys.

Fortunately, enough people had turned up early…probably those who quite like to get there early…to make sure there were no queues.

Tell everyone to please arrive early = spreading arrival time and helping to stop horrible queue and people in here talking about being ‘embarrassing’ and a ‘shambles’

This is just another non bloody issue that you are determined to have a whinge about.

My opinion
Your entitle to yours, and to start this thread.
No need to respond with sorry (= not sorry) we get the sarcasm
Or they could drop all this silly bollocks like everyone else has and learn to live with covid let people be adults and think for themselves.

Have you noticed every rule from the club comes with a threat it’s pathetic.

Which is great until the government reinstate it all again at the start of October. That's the Sword of Damocles being held over the club's head. And by BORIS, a man who's only contribution to consistency during the pandemic is the use of his own pork sword.

As soon as we're sure that there's no chance of government enforcement we'll almost certainly drop it. However, current noises from No 10 are vaccinated people only from October. Until then there's no harm in being ahead of the curve. We're talking about a few matches.

Ironically for the freedom lovers probably the best way to stop this happening is to get a vaccine.

Jesus, you are relentlessly negative. Why not chat to your friends and have a pie and a pint? Or pizza and a cuppa if that's more your thing.
Has Barber finally started selling pizza in WSU ?

If so,

No telly tho, other than public health announcements. So no embarrasingly rousing cheers from the concourse when one of the Big Six scores earlydoors in the early kick-off game. Hurrah! Was always utterly shameful, that :tosser:

East Upper I found the opposite. OK, so we are a bunch of old men and women, but we appreciate our football. Screams of delight can be heard when a top player puts in a top move.
As for all the other comments about getting in. As an OAP myself I was dreading it, but for the Getaffe game all help was available. I learnt how to access my ticket and NHS pass in advance and had my ID ready. Biggest problem of the game was using the turnstile. West side seem to be set up differently and I tried to enter through the wrong side.

Judging by the reports of bowl movements at Burnley I would expect quite a few to be carrying two phones on them so shouldn’t be an issue

Thanks for the information as I am in East Upper and a very doddery 65 year old.

Away from the masses of entitlement, two bit trolling and dubious claims of 2 hour battery life ... I have a question.

Are they planning some sort of big screen entertainment before the game?

I'll be turning up pretty early and will be delighted to catch up with old friends, but I know my lad will get bored.

Highlights from last season or from the Euros or something would be good. I understand they can't show the 3pm games.

Anyone heard anything about this? In any case it would be a good idea for the club to advertise this if they want people to turn up early

Or could just slavishly tow the line. My Club Right Or Wrong. Cos that always worked so well in the recent past

First they took our bottle tops, then they asked us to turn up early and then they sold the ground to developers and tried to asset strip the club?

I think you've just invented the Albion version of Godwin's law.

So that's an achievement.

I really am in two minds about the originator of this thread. and some others on here.

Had this been a one off, I would have thought he was actually being quite funny as it appears to be an obvious fishing trip and look at me thread, but given his other posts over the past few weeks I am starting to think actually think he believes the stuff he writes.

Its a constant stream of negativity and apparently searching through everything and anything to find fault and some negative spin on well, everything.

Here is a simple request from the Club, for people to turn up early to avoid queues. Its very similar to every game I've ever attended, please turn up early, to assist in reducing queues, except they are opening a bit earlier than usual.

The club have seen that the Gov are possible introducing regulations in October that will require EVERY club to have COVID Passport checking in place, and quite sensibly IMO , are making sure that everything is in place to do just that, rather than just hope they don't, and if they do everything will run smoothly (which we all know, it wont).

In common with most people these days, I have an average smart phone, couple years old, and I know pretty much how long the battery lasts. Even with moderate use, I can get a good 14 hours out of a full charge, so lets say I will use it a fair bit more if I turn up early and sitting in my seat for an hour longer than usual, and I refuse to watch whatever is on the screens, chat to who I came with, or the people around me (most of whom are ST holders and I have seen and interacted with for a few years and find the highest battery using apps i can. I would still probably get a good 8-10 hours out of it.

The only way its going to fail is if I do not charge it before I leave home, and I dont have a battery pack with me. Given I know I am going to be there early and slavishly look at facebook, whatsapp, pornhub or whatever, I will make sure I do just that, and have it charged before I leave and if i have any concerns take a battery pack with me

So what is the OP and others real issue here? Are they part of the sheeple that they so rail against, simply opposing any and everything even remotely connected to COVID regardless of whether it actually makes sense to do it simply because they dont want to follow the rules (Quite Ironic really if so, as they are slavishly doing something simply because....well simply because), or is it really as sad as a look at me , I hate everything that in anyway slightly inconveniences me, or doesn't conform to what I think,

Even with the win on Saturday, there are many posts on here that it was a disgrace, Potter out because we COULD have lost (not that we did), despite the very same people complaining last season that we never won those type of games.

I find it all very strange, and quite sad that so many people go out of their way to find fault in everything , its a strange outlook on life that looks for ways to take all the joy out of it. Whatever the rights and wrongs, on Saturday, we can have a full stadium for the first time in nearly two years, watching our team we all supposedly support. Why not go with the attitude of "great, Im off to the Amex, to support my team, with a full house, and all I have to do is leave home a bit earlier than usual"

Yeh, he's a negative bell end. Go back to 2014 and you'll see moaning at the fact that Bloom had spent 30 odd million of his own cash on the long-term investment of the training ground and academy instead of ignoring FFP rules - which were quite tight at the time - and splurging it on transfer fees and wages.

I think you've taken him a bit more seriously than he deserves TBH. I rather suspect light refreshments had been taken. There are later posts on this thread that are bang out of order by him and he seems to have slunk off. However, I've had a pint with the chap in person in the past and came across as a likeable and funny bloke. Some people exaggerate their online personas (maybe even me included).

WRT the bolded bit though, where exactly are those posts? If they are on the official match thread at the point when we were losing (maybe specifically half time) then get used to it. Frankly that's no different to being at a game. You'll be on the concourse and hear dozens of people moaning at half time if we're losing. "Potter's got the team wrong". "So and so player doesn't know what he's doing". "Might as well go back to the pub now". There will also be dozens of others quietly having a drink or pie and calmly looking forward to turning it round in the second half. That's what being a football fan is all about. The idea of wanting to ban or control negative thought is, in itself, a bit scary. I didn't see anyone come out with "Potter out" after the game and if they had, they would have been trolling.

I did see THPP at the Edinburgh fringe Festival once, he was very good for a beginner
