Whenever anyone suggests we should have more points than our current tally, others will mention that we rode our luck a bit in other games and picked up more than we probably should.

So, with that in mind, how many points do you think we should have right now, if match results followed dominance and chances etc.

As a reminder, this is what we have picked up to date:

Three Points

Everton 0 - 3 Albion
Albion 2 - 1 Man Utd
Albion 3 - 2 Spurs
Newcastle 0 - 1 Albion
Albion 2 - 1 Man City

One Point

Arsenal 1 - 1 Albion
Albion 0 - 0 Ipswich
Albion 2 - 2 Forest
Albion 2 - 2 Wolves

No Points

Chelsea 4 - 2 Albion
Liverpool 2 - 1 Albion

23, two of the draws should have been wins, certainly Wolves then a tossup between Arsenal (hour against 10 men) and Ipswich (battered them but couldn’t score)

21. The only points we 'should' have had extra were the Wolves ones. All the other games have been deserved by either sides I feel - for instance, our defending deserved the points at Newcastle, Ipswich's defending deserved a point against us. No team has 'thrown away' points to us. But we definitely threw two away at the end against Wolves.

2 dropped points v Wolves.

You can argue all you like for anything else, which would get us up to 33, but that 4 on 1 attack should never have resulted in them scoring.

21. I expected losses v. Arsenal, LFC and City, but our 3 draws at home left me somewhat frustrated.

Edited for innumeracy

Should have 2 more a piece from Forest, Wolves and Ipswich. 1 more from Anfield. However I’d say on the balance of play we should have lost at Newcastle and drawn with United at home, was a very even game.

So I’m going 7 points dropped and 5 ‘gained’. A total of 2 short overall. 21 points.

According to Understat, we should have 17 (and we should be in 10th place). Their "Expected Points" figure is based on xG and xGA. Interestingly, Fulham should be second (and Chelsea should be 11th).

How many have we got? That many.

Because we can bang on about Wolves, but City missed a host of chances to put the game to bed, United should have taken the lead rather than committing the most ridiculous offside, Ipswich whacked the post late on, Spurs could have been 4 or 5 up at half time, Newcastle buggered up two clean one on ones, Declan Rice got the most stupid red card. I'll take the 19 we have thanks.

I don’t believe we ‘should’ have any points other than those we actually have. If we concede 2 late goals to Wolves, that’s our problem. Why should we deserve the win? If we should have beaten Wolves, then Newcastle should have beaten us in terms of the chances they had.

Sorry, I know this isn’t in the spirit of the question but every team in the league can go through their matches and say where they should have had more points, including their matches against us!

I don’t know why people torture themselves with this question.

It’s all swings and roundabouts. Imagine how Manchester United fans feel after we won. They missed going ahead late in the game with a really bizarre offside situation and then we score a last minute winner. They probably look on that game as we do the others we dropped points in.

Newcastle fans will look on our win as we do the Ipswich game. They battered us for 45 minutes and we score with the only touch we have in their box.

We see the Arsenal game as dropped points but so do their fans. We can’t both be right.

I do find it odd that people only ever focus on the ones we’ve dropped but can reconcile that against where we have got more points than we deserve.

Having said all that, I’m still gutted about Wolves.

Even with 10 men, Arsenal arguably had the better chances on the break to win it.

More than happy with the draw there.

But not so happy with the Ipswich, Notts Forest and Wolves results. Especially the last two where we gave away the lead.

It is what it is…..lose a few, gain a few. Could easily have got nothing from Arsenal, City and Spurs, compensates for the annoying home draws.

I am astonished that 19 is not the answer for 99% of us. We rode our luck in a few, got a bit unlucky in others. 'Deserve' to be exactly where we are. I reckon.
Did we?

With the exception of Newcastle, which I downgraded, Liverpool we were well worth at least a point.
They literally had a relentless 20 minute spell.
Chelsea fair enough.
Arsenal, down to 10, given their chances and ours, a draw was right…..

The home games though really frustrate me, all of them Spurs first half aside we battered the opposition, and Spurs we completely outplayed in the second.

But other than that?

It's always a case of swings and roundabouts but...
That Wolves game was 2 points thrown straight down the khazi
