I see some joker has gone for 2... that's the down side of letting Palace fans vote on these sort of things.

Edit to add:

It was you?! Are you mad?

There is a very thin line between mad and genius.I'm on the mad side, according to many on here :lolol:,but I'm too old to be bothered what anybody else thinks!

Four is the absolute minimum for me. That would be two defenders (ideally a right back and left back), a central midfielder and a striker. However, that would assume we would keep Walton as third choice keeper (whereas he seems likely to go on loan), keep Goldson (where again he might go out on loan) and are probably an attacker short of ideal numbers (a winger/no 10).

So, 4 going on 7?

It really does depend on what position for me.

If we sign two good quality strikers then I fancy we can compete and then we just need a bit of general squad filling up.

However if we sign two left backs then we are a long way short on the goal scoring front.

So 4, but I voted 3 for some reason.

Frankly I just don't know.

Of course if we signed Ronaldo then we probably wouldn't need to bother anywhere else.

On the basis of realistic signings we need 5-6. I take your point that the most important one is a proven goalscorer/s but we have a gaping hole at LB too.

What concerns me more are the number of 1st XI players we are currently short by. Even if Ryan and Gross turn out to be Prem standard - and that's a big if - I still think we need a new right back, left back and striker to start.

I'll feel a lot better if we bring in Tomori, Gomez and Ulloa.

I don't know why this happens on these threads every time. This thread asks for people's opinions on a topic. The poster gives his/her opinion and then other posters call that person crazy for having an unusual OPINION. Everyone is allowed to have their own opinion.

So, with a squad of 20 players currently, adding just 2 is a sensible option?

Either way - I wasn't seriously suggesting the Mad Professors was actually insane. :)

I'd say about 5 but seeing how slow we're it seems maybe 2-3 max will join before August.I recall it being a good thing getting promoted 3 weeks early as we had longer to prepare and recruit:glare:

.thats what I thought too....either we are playing incredible hardball. Or the recruitment are on holiday until mid August! I'm sure things will happen soon, but it does make you start to question things....

as it stands, we're just about putting the same squad out as finished last season, so reckon we need at least 6......but we won't get them, unfortunately 1

GK, LB, CB/FB cover, CM, Winger/NO.10/Forward.... Someone versatile like Izzy Brown, Winger and a striker.

LB, CM, Winger and Striker to be big improvements on what we have.

If Hughton wants Gomez to be like what Tomori offered us as a 3rd choice FB and 5th choice CB then potentially another CB if Goldson goes out on loan. (Gomez would be pushing to start)

7/8 is a lot but only 4 regular starters and a couple of more outs to keep the squad numbers down.

p.s I don't think that many will come in.

Not wishing to wet the proverbial but I think we are sailing a bit close to the wind.

We know we need to acquire at least 5 decent players who can perform at this level, the squad will need to hit the ground running otherwise we could be toast by the time Santa calls..........
