As a vegetarian, it's hard to find non-leather shoes so I wear trainers or daps most of the time.

I'm also size 13, so that makes it even harder to find anything

I have one pair of smart black ones from Vegetarian Shoes (I hate wearing them as they're size 11 and far too tight so they're just for funerals)

The reason for the question is

Just now on French TV they were discussing waste and having things you don't need

Now my French wife is always saying how scruffy I am compared with her compatriots

And in this piece on French TV ,apparently the average frenchman has 18 pairs of shoes!

I currently have 3 pairs and a pair of trainers

About 5 shoes at a guess and 2 trainers. 1 work. Outside of work, 1 brown 1 black and a couple of other casual pairs. Though I dont where any of them generally.

2 pairs of Adidas and I'm always in one or the other >99% of time

The cost of shoes has plummeted. I remember my girlfriend buying a pair of thigh boots from Eliot's in 1978 for £120, which was approximately four month's wages for her then. The equivalent of thousands of pounds, scaling up. I bought a pair of shoes that fell apart after 6 months for £32 in 1979, more than a week's wages. The equivalent of £500-£2000, scaling to typical current wages. Madness.

Thank the lord we can now benefit from child labour in the far east, eh?

I think I have 2 pairs of proper shoes.
1 pair of trainers
1 pair of walking boots
1 pair of golf shoes (now never used)
1 pair of cricket shoes (cracked and studs missing but shamefully used)
1 pair of garden boots

Occasionally I will open a top cupboard and find a pair of something I've purchased and stuffed away - which is nice.
