Heh. I was the first generation on my fathers side to leave Ireland to live that we know of. It was something that had much of my extended family shun us for turning our back on the 'homeland'. It took a serious illness to have them want to be in contact with us again. Which is pretty sad really.

I know nothing about my father's side, I'm trying to find out more: I'm pretty sure they're from Sussex though.

My maternal grandmother's parents were both born in Merthyr Tydfil and my maternal grandfather's father was from Yeovil - don't know about his mother.

Her name was CHRISTINA HADDOCK.

my Father's Father's Mother (adopted).
and my Father's Father's Mother (real).

after that the trail has gone abit cold for now.

Not a clue on any of the eight.

I could ask about my father's side, but my mother's side will be a complete blank because (a) she was adopted at birth (single mothers during the war - not socially acceptable), and (b) she died seven years ago, so it's not though I can ask her anyway.

my step-great grandmother (maternal grandmothers stepmother) is still alive; born in Dublin, to people from f***ing Portsmouth - but she's no blood relation.
great-grandfather on that side was a Dubliner, as was his first wife - know the names of all of them

second set (maternal grandfathers parents) I can't remember the names of were all from Tipperary

paternal grandfathers parents were both Donegal and I can name both

paternal grandmothers parents were Donegal and Mayo and I can name both.

all bar the step-great grandmother were dead before I was born, her husband lasted the closest (a whole 6 years)

My Grandmother was one of the principle singers for the Doyle Cart Opera Company( the famous cockney slang )

She was what they call "pitch perfect"....I have only met a few other people who can say they were pitch perfect! If only I had inherited that
