Think it's only happened to me the once back in the 70's glory days. Reading away and a midweek game. Late dash after work from Brighton, had to park about a mile from the ground and arrived too late to see our opening goal.

Anyone on here on the delayed trains to Forest in the Cup where we narrowly lost a cracking game 2-1 (I think)? Did the trains actually ever arrive?

Bournemouth home in the LDV midweek, left Croydon at 4, drove to Ashford, picked up wife, drove to Goldstone, heard first goal on radio, dropped wife and friend off at ground and parked up, heard roar (well, cheer anyway) for our second goal walking to the ground, got to the game sneaked out for a coffee just before half-time and missed a third goal!

Wife got stuck in the turnstiles at Port Vale and missed our opener in the first minute before we lost 3-1

About 15 years ago, against Charlton at Upton Park. My mate, who always leaves everything to the last moment, pratted around thinking he could Hackney to West Ham in about 25 minutes. We arrived just after Charlton had scored their first (courtesy of Garry Nelson I believe).

Have not missed a Brighton goal through arriving late though.

Is that got stuck in a Homer Simpson kind of way or an entry system malfunction kind of way? The former would be highly embarrassing I'd imagine.

Don't think I've ever missed a goal by being late but I certainly rememeber missing a Leon Knight goal whilst taking a piss to get rid of the pre-match beer.

Only happened to me once. When we were exiled in Pikeyham. Got to the game late and such was the lack of atmosphere it was actually half time before I found out we were 0-1 down !

Not missed any goals, but I did miss kick-off for our last "home" match at Gillingham, and was ten minutes late for the league match at Bristol City last season - I arrived just in time to see the goal against us, really, I hadn't even found somewhere to stand at that point!!

The most recent occasion was the Wigan tie that we lost 4-2. I missed the first goal and only just caught the second goal. They were very slick that day!

Best performance I've ever seen at Withdean, they were awesome the way they took us apart.

missed the first two goals at withdean against brentford last season, so effectively saw us lose 2-0

arrived at bristol rovers late once in about 1994, but dont remember the score. burnley the year later we got to at half time due to all kinds of trouble on the m6, and missed the kurt nogan show as they raced into a 3-0 lead

More than I care to remember and left before goals at the end. Myself and fat bridge were at the Greece game in 2001 when Beckham scored with that free kick but had left by that time to get to the pub. Was also at the France game in Portugal in 2004 and left before their equaliser and their winner in order to get to the bar.

Not me, luckily, but a Saints supporting mate had a brilliant one, when they played Man Utd at home about 2 years ago [in the FA Cup I think - it may have even been on the Beeb].

Anyway Utd won 4-0 with goals in the following minutes; 1, 45, 46, 90. He managed to miss EVERY goal, due to getting to his seat late, nipping to the bar to beat the queue, late back to his seat, left early respectively!

I was on the Forest train that never got there. I've never travelled by train to a game since.

Loads of people got off the train in the middle of nowhere near kidderminster and wandered off across miles of fields never to be seem again.

We listened to the game crowded around a single portable radio in the carriage and the whole train nearly rolled over when Wardy equalised.

"Happy" days
