I cant remember their firms name, I told him I wasnt interested in football as he was a bit of a nutter and didnt really want to speak to him.. his sister showed the same family gene later in our relationship. I remember the two trees well for some reason...think standing on the corner there for the Mecca type place that was there... and will never forget seeing a a jock walk past with a crate of beer in one hand, wearing a kilt, and vomiting in the gutter without breaking step...respect....

Wasn't their firm the TCE? (The Central Element).
Used to f***ing LOVE Union Street. Beer Keller, 2 Trees, Boobs, The Tube, The Malthouse, The PR. Did Fearless re-fit there from 87-90. made Pompey look the God-awful run ashore that it is, good for one thing, the M275.
In Guz, the girls actually liked us!

Spent most of my time in Yeovil or Pompey, but when I did venture to Guz and Union Street it was utter carnage, mind you that tends to happen when you go on the piss with Royal.

No but I watched ( from behind the bar) a very entertaining ruck between elements of 40 and 42 commando, I was
particularly impressed by the use of the glass ash trays!
I fell asleep in Diamond Lils ..... Lightweight

That would of been 40 Cdo Recce Troop. They were the original crazy gang. They were famous for shutting pub door and fighting every one in there.

Bumped into a mate (lot) last night. 'Lennie the lion' for those that know him. Won't reveal his name but born a day after me in August 1953. I was responsible as a four year old for taking him from his home in Stapley Road to the Knoll Infants School. He was by the war memorial in the Steine on the way to an all-night shop to 'buy fags'. He had a bandage round his head and had 'escaped' from the RSCH where he had been taken as a result of a fall outside Wetherspoons in George St. He reminded me that he had 68 fights for the Navy and won 54 of them. I unfortunately broke my jaw in a fight at Cheetahs and never fought a fight in the ring since. I have defended him in pubs in the past.

No mate I left her in 77, know a few Greenies that may have been on there at that time tho ??

I went onboard if that's the right word to use. I was working in Saudi Arabia at the time and R&R to Bangkok and Manila for the first time. It was the opening day of the football season and I wanted to find out the Albion result. I was taken down to the telex room and then into the wardroom. You sir, have very good mates. They sorted me witha drink (it was hot) and the results. I, in turn took a bunch of guys out for a beer in Manila and then back to my place in Mabini Mansions. No hanky panky. There were plenty of girls that night and I believe they stayed over - my memory has faded on that bit. It was a Navy Day in Manila which is why I could board. If you are in touch with any of them remeind me to them. Ta.
