Well?

I have been to 4:

London
Cardiff
Edinburgh
Valletta

I would like to extend that list further, but not for a while, wonder if anyone has visited 30 or 40?

Crikey, never really thought about this before and it's a measly 3! London, Cardiff and Amsterdam.

How many FORMER capitals of current nation states have people been to?

I've been to Bonn, New York and Karachi. Would Winchester count?

I LIVE in one. Capital twice at that, legitimately in the 1500s or so and in theory in the 1920s (the Governer General lived here, but wasn't recognised by the govt.) Its just a suburb of the actual capital by now though.

Less than 15 for the main question which is pathetically lower than I imagined.

If you were there WHEN they were capitals then yes.

Tad harsh, given that places that aren't capitals of nation states - Edinburgh and Cardiff - are allowed. Boooooo.

Anyway: London, Paris, Oslo, Stockholm, Copenhagen, Amsterdam, Berlin, Brussels, Paris, Monaco, Madrid, Lisbon, Rome, Prague, Athens, Belgrade, Cairo, Islamabad, Bangkok. I've not yet visited the capital of the country where I now live.
