We are almost being left to police ourselves, which for posties, probably isn't the best option.
The general rule of thumb is to deliver 1/2 your round 1 day and the other the next.
Sadly though with management so scared about slip/trip injuries if your are of the disposition that you are owed an easy job, you'll take the pi$$.

Almost agree Statty........A lot of the problems has been getting the mail to the sorting offices. Certainly on the first day of the snow logistics was near impossible. It take a while for the big cogs of RM to move again once it has been halted. Hence some Couriers managed deliveries from point to point while RM was snowed in at certain depots. As far as Posties getting their finger out...well all the posties i work with have worked hard trying to deliver mail to as many customers as possible. As was pointed out to me in a reply to an irate customer who lived up a mile long lane, if a postman usually takes 5 minutes in normal conditions to deliver her mail if he had to walk and take 10-15 minutes in snow conditions multiply that by the number of similar points of delivery on his round and you see where a lot of the delivery time goes. Remember most Posties want to deliver the mail because they know how little time it takes for it to build up to nightmare proportions.

Never had a day off because of snow. The Facts are it was one of the hardest rounds and thats why no one wanted it and it kept being cut because it was too long, No tea stop and biscuits like a postie i know, some say up to 5 stops a day!! Some say he even takes his slippers!!
