1.

We had one position we had to fill as the top priority. We failed.

Still, a few hours left…

LB was the biggest priority and that’s sorted

Medium happy.

3 great things:

1. Total squad trim. We needed it.
2. LWB sorted with someone who seems a top player.
3. We kept Bissouma

1 big bad thing:

We failed to sign any goal scorers for THIS season to compete with our forwards who finished like amateurs last season. Connolly, Maupay and Trossard will sigh with relief, no pressure on their spots even if they’re shooting is worse than last season (which is almost impossible I admit).

I assuming the lights are out at the Amex and Lancing now

Me, really disappointed we haven’t got another striker in but really looking forward to seeing Cucurella.

A little concerned about our striker options but I haven’t seen another realistic striker signing in the PL and thought “shit we should have got him”

Scale of 10-1, 10 being ecstatic, 1 being suicidal

It’s high time for some serious panic stricken hyperbole.

-5.

I decided against suicide, opting instead to listen to a perpetual set from DJ Jurgs whilst young Aaron shows me how to bust some serious moves on a dance floor strewn with discarded faxes from transfer windows of yore... yes that’s right, it’s a funking nightmare.

Pass me a whisky.

Cucurella put me at eight, letting Zeqiri go down to seven, signing Sima up to 9, loaning him out and down to f***ing 3. :albion2:

All seems unnecessary as I would have been happy if we'd kept Andone.

Keeping Bissouma, bringing in Mwepu and Cucurella, a solid 8.
The lack of striker has me dropping that to a 6, although there's still a couple of hours for that to change.

6.

Keeping Bissouma and signing Cucurella is great news.

Mwepu, too early to say, which is normal.

White helped make a great back 3 (low GA stats last season) but moreover he quickly initiated our attacks. Banking £50m was fantastic, I hope GP finds solutions to replace his qualities.

Gutted we didn’t sign a first team forward with goals in him.

Relieved about all the departures, none of them could cut it any more, Locadia joining them would’ve made that side a 10 out of 10.

Who is this mythical, goals-guaranteed striker that so many seem to be upset that we have missed out on?

I haven’t been following the transfer window that closely but has there been a striker signed by a PL club that was within our budget (fee + probable salary) and would have been open to a move to Brighton?

Seems some are getting bent out of shape about the club not signing a player that at present doesn’t exist

I could see we needed a striker.
You could see we needed a striker.
Graham Potter could see we needed a striker.
Gary Lineker could see we needed a striker.
Stevie ****ing Wonder could see we needed a striker.

But our recruitment team apparently couldn’t. Then when we did sign a striker with European experience we loaned him to ****ing Stoke. Hugely underwhelmed.

The club have done well by greatly reducing the squad size and moving on lots of players, Mwepu is an intriguing signing and I’m excited by Cucurella’s signature, having said that the squad feels imbalanced and lacking in two very key areas, firstly we have no pace, we’re completely and utterly pedestrian, secondly we still do not have another source of goals. I’m not surprised in the slightest that we’ve failed to sign a striker, and I understand the goals by committee approach that we’re probably hoping will work, but to not improve on last season’s attacking options seems short sighted. We keep on hearing/reading about the need for more goals from midfield, but we’re rolling with the same non-scoring midfielders and misfiring forwards who were here last year. Why should we expect to see any significant improvement? Overall the club have done well, but not adding a forward or striker dampens my optimism a touch.

It was very clear that we were after Gonzalez and Nunez, both of whom we missed out on. Re Nunez we seem to have dithered around thinking Benfica would 'fold' when they clearly haven't. If it was just these two on our list I'd have been surprised. In the end it seems as if we have 'risked' £7m on a striker with potential but one who we feel is too inexperienced to be in the first team squad. So we've loaned him out to Stoke. We have Zeqiri in that category. I don't see the value in risking £7m on another if we don't think he's up to it.
We needed a decent striker this window and have re-signed Welbeck, but he's high risk due to his injury record. So fingers crossed the recruitment team have a surprise up their sleeve with just under three hours to go.

4/5 for our outgoing business, we shifted a lot of players who hadn't worked out or whose time was past or who would benefit from regular games to develop. Only problem is not being able to move Locadia, but that's hardly a great surprise.
3/5 for our incoming at this moment we're at least one striker short and another squad option at around right wing back/defensive mid/ centre back would have helped in a long season or if injuries start to mount. Like the look of Mwepu ad Cucurella and i reckon we've got at least one good future option among the others

Its risky and stupid . And is going to blow up in the clubs face so I have voted 2 . We have had the same problem for season after season but keep strengthening the dam where it is strong and putting the finger in the dam with the leak its madness
