I would suggest that reducing the wage bill is not a bad thing - although that depends on how much of the loanees' wages we are paying.

How not to handle the development of a young player. Give him his first team debut and then days later loan him out at literally the last minute on deadline day. Oh, and the team he's gone to is bottom of a second rate league.

Yes. Last year we finished well clear of relegation. All our young players are a year more savvy.. We've offloaded most of what needed to be offloaded and got in some good incoming players.
Young players from Poland and South America coming through with experience under their belts, more young attacking players coming in or stepping up from our youth teams after a loan ................. there's fire power there, just not labelled 'striker'. No, we won't win the league - we're not dropping out of it either.

I do love your confidence and enthusiasm, however goals win football matches and that’s where we struggle. There’s a good chance Welbeck will get injured at some point, Connelly is nowhere near good enough so that leaves Maupay.
Unfortunately good teams do go down and we’ve flirted with relegation before.

Not quite sure what you mean by that fella. It was just something that I came across on youtube. 3 guys talking via zoom. I just skipped through it and came across the discussion about Lamptey. It wasnt some high level production and they called each other by their first names. It was only later that I realised who it was. Like I said, im pretty sure he posts on here with another name but hasnt backed his views up on any of the lamptey discussions.

You’re thinking of Ian Hart’s YouTube show. He posts here as Lenny Rider. Decent watch, but I don’t think that any of them are anymore in the know than the average fan, and that includes Lamptey’s recovery from his op, which will be kept fairly confidential.

We do however know that he’s been back in full training for a couple of weeks now and, according to GP’s pre-Everton press conference, is likely to see some action after the break.

I find it is easier to stay positive if you assume Potter wants to start with just one striker and two men to run the channels.

We have a stack of good midfielders and it would be interesting to see whether Moder or Gross could play in a slightly more advanced role.

I am excited by the Cucurella signing, he looks exactly the sort of high energy, high work rate player we need to energise the team and the prospect of him and Lamptey flying down the wings is very exciting. Those two should certainly help to get the goal production up from midfield, with the likes of MacAllister, Mwepu and Moder good at making runs into the box.

This works if you consider we have forwards able to ‘run the channels’ with more pace than an arthritic tortoise…

If we're talking shit strikers,Benteke clearly is in my view. . I imagine Palace can give the first XI assurances we can't. Beyond that, it's just guesswork who is better.

I dont see that Edouard is automatically going to keep Maupay and Welbeck on the bench, but more importantly, our club don't see that. Maupay and Welbeck are our one and two, sign better than them or don't sign anyone. I'm sure we'd be happy to have Edouard as a third choice, but probably not on the wages he would demand, and anyway, the player won't want that.

I think we had an idea of the wage he was on and would want and placed him on the too rich for us list. Reportedly £70K per week deal at Palace. I just hope he has a sulk when he realises Benteke is on £120K.

I think that reducing the wage bill is secondary. It’s all about getting these young players - mostly 19-20 year olds - senior level game time to help them develop and make the step up to the Premier League. Caicedo is still well down the central midfield pecking order and wouldn’t have seen much first-team action this year, particularly with Bissouma staying.
