Yep football died the day all seater stadiums came and Sky put the final nail in the coffin, from then on it was just all about money - higher entrance prices ('because you have a seat now'), ridiculous wages and greedy players who care nothing for the clubs, the atmosphere is crap at most grounds, the fans who built the game are dwindling, kids aren't interested because of lack of atmosphere, prices and can watch it on TV (no atmosphere/excitement so why pay £30 to watch) - Unfortunately because so many people around the world think the 'prem' is the mutt's nuts it will take the credit crunch to really bite before enough people cancel their sky subscriptions to change he situation - the standing issue is up to the fans - DON'T SIT.

I think Sky have taken a gamble on paying out so much money fpr PL games. Maybe they have built into their costings that the economic downturn wont affect their revenues i.e people will continue to pay subscriptions and that Pubs will still be full of punters and therefore will pay out for a licence.

On the other hand, if this downturn gets worse (and the signs are not good), then a whole swathe of people will be unemployed and looking to reduce their outgoings, Sky maybe being one of them.

If Sky cant or chooses not to honour contracts, then Clubs may well have hefty wage bills and a lot less income and have serious debt problems. In an ideal world Sky would also go bust, but thats me being fanciful.

Having said all that people amaze me and you will still see families with no income with Sky.........

sky are doing well out of the down turn. You can get Sky Sports for a month for the price of one PL ticket. a few beers and takeaway round a mates house watching football costing well under what it would cost to go out to the game,

Albion and Premier League latest from Sky Sports
