The irony is... it DID get warmer later on.

I got to within two miles of the ground - The Baksetmakers (about 300 yards from my place of work), and I stayed there until I left.

Wasn't going to see the Burning The Clocks for anybody when my pint was just calling, calling, calling for me.

Had a text from$ a mate about 640 so never left the house. Decided to go to the gym about 730 and who should be there but the whole first team squad-bar Baz- being put through a serious workout by Malcolm and the 2 Deans. Gave me some incentive to put in a decent 30 mins on the cross-trainer! The boys were in good spirits with Paul Reid smashing some record on the xt. He looked in good shape.
Worst thing was Elder's scalp stripe - in blue and red! He looked like a Palace basketball. Was teMpted to have a word!

I drove all the way from West Chilt in the fog and got all the way to Withdean when a steward informed us that the pitch was frozen.

When we tried to inform other people walking down the hill that the game was off, they seemed reluctant to believe us.

All that hassle making a flask of hot chocolate for nothing.

Yes, that does seem a bit poignant. Either not considered a BHA player until he makes his intentions clear by signing, so - better to play the lads who are certainly in our future, could be injured - or.... already a goner?

I hate such conjecturing as a rule, but what can anyone make of that?

I got as far as having a quite heated debate with my boss as to whether I was leaving at 6 or 6.30, eventually winning, only to get into the car straight to a message from John Boy saying game off.

Needless to say I did not go back, and will not be mentioning it any time soon

When the match was called ON at 2.30 I thought "Well I dunno - it may start but I doubt that it'll finish as the lights attract the fog" and it was already freezing fog here and had been all day so I made an executive decision that we wouldn't bother . . .
Went to the local instead
