Couldn't really care about this, but what REALLY winds me up is when TV and radio presenters say "pronounciation" instead of pronunciation.
I like it when people say they have good pronounciation.Couldn't really care about this, but what REALLY winds me up is when TV and radio presenters say "pronounciation" instead of pronunciation.

I can picture this being read by Pam Ayres. Is she the gold standard? There was a little girl,
Who had a little curl,
Right in the middle of her forehead.
When she was good,
She was very good indeed,
But when she was bad she was horrid.
Not according to the audio.....
Ma'am as in ham
or
Ma'am as is harm
Keenya was correct until they got independence. Jomo Kenyatta was the first president and the pronunciation was changed to Ken ya, from his name.
Is the correct answer from someone that lived there for 3 years.
I'm old enough to remember when they got independence. My Dad went to Silver Sands a few times, and Mombasa, etc when he was in the Navy.
Got a bit tired of Nairobi but Mombasa is a lovely place, I would move there if another job came up.
