Nervously confident. If we can start the game in the first half for a change and then play our best game then we should win easily. If we play like the first half against Leeds then we could be in a lot of trouble.

Should be confident but derbies are like cup ties, to use the old cliche, the form book goes out of the window.

Unusually for me, I am very confident. We are the team on the up, with quality players and style of football, a top notch manager and the best part of 20K fans creating a great atmosphere. 3-0 us.

In my head - I know this result won't change the fact that we are on the up and we are leaving Palace behind over the next few years at least. In my heart - like Arthur I could not bear the miserable northern git to score (even if we are 5-0 up).

Overall - confident I suppose.

I mean if we turn up and play our game I don't think they will live with us. But we do need to turn up and play our game - from the start - not from half-time.

Agree. I am also nervously confident.

I was totally confident until I found out that D'Urso was the ref, so it's gone down a notch.

Frustratingly pessimistic. I know we are better and can beat them comfortably, IF they switch on from the start and start with confidence.

The last 3 games we havent' done that.

Nervous, very nervous. I know a lot of people on here think we're going to thump them, but make no mistake Palace are a reasonable side, capable of beating anyone in this division, and certainly won't roll over.
I really can't understand some of the arrogance from some of our fans, yes we are a good side but so are Palace and they will also want to beat us, I think it will be down to individual players and the amount of passion they have for this one, lets hope our lads have as much fire in their bellies as us supporters.
I think it will be a tight game and couldn't even try to predict a scoreline !

Edit: I would add that I really hope I'm wrong, and look forward to having this thread bounced if we beat them convincingly.

I'm swinging between confident to nervous back to confident again every hour or so. As Wilko says, in derby matches the form book goes out of the window. Whatever happens, it won't be dull.

We SHOULD win. Looking at it objectively we're due a win after three games without one and we're a better team than them. However we're not that much better (they're still a useful Championship side) and so football-wise it wouldn't be a total eyebrow-raising shock if we lost. Plus it's a derby.

Some I'm 51-49% coming down in favour of a Brighton win, something like 2-1.

I agree with this. It will be a tight game I reckon, probably won by a single goal.

Some (hopefully) rational reasons for optimism are that they seem to be still figuring out what their best starting eleven and formation is and that their good start may have been a flash in the pan. Plus they don't seem able to hold a lead when they're put under pressure (after going ahead at Leeds and Peterborough for example) and their away form is generally rubbish.

But most of the usual rules don't apply in a derby as we showed when our bottom of the league side humiliated them at Selhurst in the McShane game.
