How do I get over a break up?

Mate, this happened to me about a year ago, it ain't pleasant. Best thing to do is to not contact her at all. Let her do the chasing. The less you see of her, the less it hurts. The more you see her the more you think you have a chance of getting back together.

I eventually got back together with her after 6 months, its never the same.

Oh and watch the film Swingers.

The best way to get a woman's attention is for her to think that you don't really care.

Don't do anything daft like trying to make her jealous. Be as nonchalant as you can.

True! Mine split up with me and i just got on with my life and let it be known what a fantastic time i was having. Within weeks she was back on the phone saying how much she missed me and wanted me back. Went and saw her for 'closure' and managed to get my goodbye shag in and then waved goodbye.

She still texts and phones me and i tell her my lady problems. Quality! :clap2:

Don't do this ntil you're ready though. You've got to get over her first and start having the fun.

Looks like tomorrow night could be 'Operation Monkfish' then. I shall report back. ANyone else with some brighti ideas feel free to keep them coming though...not actually sure I can talk to another bird without screaming 'yeah your ok..but your not laura..why cant you be f***ing laura'...then collapsing in a large heap.

Nice to know that everyones been through simialr though and come out the other side.

Go up to a girl and say something complimentary (optional).

Wait for her to buy you a drink.

Listen to any shit she speaks and try to remember to nod when you can be arsed.

Wait for her to buy you another drink.

If this doesn't happen within 5 minutes of you finishing the first one she bought you, tell her you have genital warts and find another girl, then repeat until you are pissed and ask the last girl who bought you a drink if she fancies giving you some pleasure.

Think Slack.

Mate, you are in the worst stage of the break up. You won't get over it for a long time. There is no quick fix solution. You will spend a long time being miserable.

All you can do is temporarily "distract" yourself from thinking about her. Boozing and womanising are two options. But they are only distractions, and once that's over, the pain will creep back again.

Everyone here has offered good advice for temporary relief (I'm surprised no one has mentioned exercise, that worked the best for me), but you've got to hang in there and be mentally strong or you will just fall into deep depression. Eventually things will get better, but it will be a very long time. Good luck buddy.

There is nothing in life that the Bev Road run cannot cure. And then perhaps down LA's on the Friday night to pull some rough local slapper - enjoy it for a bit. I was attached for the last two years at Hull and still wish I had taken advantage of the liberal attitude of the local female population - fill yer boots.

The Bev Road Run is indeed the stuff of legends. Did you ever play Rugby when you were in Hull? Its pretty much a rugby union thing now. 19 pubs in teams of 8, 5 minute intervals with the idea to have drink in each one (pints til after cannon junction then doubles in alternate pubs). Nowadays we end up in Asylum (students union) which just won best student venue in England.

Still miss the Mrs though...

Unfortunately while associated with a number of the rugby team I never played. It also looks like some new Pubs have appeared on the Road - I think it was 15-16 back when I was up there. Also the Union name has changed - all the construction had just started when I left. Now if it was a Sunday afternoon I would recommend a trip to the Piper. Bingo followed by rough old strippers followed by karaoke - those were the days

One thing i've learnt, Never ever go back. No matter how much you think you want to don't.

Get pissed out with the lads, and avoid having your mobile on you when pissed or you'll make embarrasing drunken phonecalls, never good.

Eastleigh, who did you hang about with from rugby? This is my fourth year now so I might know a few of them. There are a few new pubs yeah and the union is ace now, in fact just been voted top student venue in England.

Another vote here for Swingers.

"Now when you talk to her, I don't want you to be the guy in the PG-13 movie that everyone's pulling for. I want you to be the guy in the rated R movie who you're not sure if you like..."

Classic. :lolol:

lad called Mark Davis was on my course. Lived in halls with enormous bloke called Abdul and also Alex large flanker type who was on Wasps books - allegedly. Knew all of them pretty well.

Well ! Terrible advice from many quarters here!

Do NOT drink, it weakens any resolve, lowers your sensibility, and turns you into a spineless plonker with women. Do not slake your desires with a prostitute - you will lower your feling of self-worth and add fuel to your fire for the ex. By all means see other women .....try a few, and why date one at a time? It isn't requirement.
DO meet and chat with women, whether you are attracted to or not - and don't hide the truth if they happen to ask about your 'status' because girls are always sympthetic toward sad dumped geezers (unless you did something unforgivable to get dumped).
Immerse yourself in business concern. Worry about the bills, worry about how to improve your income.
Tell yourself you are getting over it. You will actually start to believe yourself.
If you drive past her place, don't glance at the house - imagine it crawling with awful bugs, stenching of rot. If she calls, get distracted and tell her you'll call her back - then don't call back. If her number comes up on the mobile, don't answer it.

If you think "but we are friends, I can't just ignore her" - don't forget she dumped you, and the friendship, and is obviously prepared to lose you in every department.

Recall her faults - remember that small in the bog? What about that mole with the hair coming out of it - or her flabby leg muscles, cottage cheese thighs, bleached hair, wrinkled neck, snoring, missing tooth, ugly mother, snort when she laughed etc.

If she sees you in the street, feign that you didn't see her and cross the road.
Music ; AVOID the pathos like 'Back for Good" ( a shit song anyway) or stuff by anyone named Collins . Take up some NEW interests - classical music, tennis, golf ....something you kinda liked but didn't do while involved . Paint the bedroom a different colour, or add some furnishings, posters or whatever.
Take walks, play football, get involved in living!

Look, going back on the past is not likely, or good, so get on the track to start improving the future so you are worthwhile to yourself and to someone else.
If that ex questions why you are avoiding her, you can just tell her "Look, going back is neither likely or good....etc" (but don't tell her it was advice! It's your own plan, ....and so it should become that).

Chin up, it's a temporary thing anyway - and everyone goes through that shit sometime or other. Believe me, losing a family member or pet is by far worse than 'love-affairs'.

The exspert has come to your rescue!

Yes it will be hard but you need to socialise as much as possible and slowly build your confidence up.

Funny enough there is no better way than going out with ya mates and having fun and start talking to woman in a friendly way and those woman will make you feel much better about yourself.

I was rock bottom once and one woman in a club changed all that and now im over confident.:lolol: :lolol: :lolol:
