One case has nothing to do with the other and should not be compared, also the Hall sentence will rise
It is natural that people are going to compare the outcome of them both, given that they are both sexual cases. You can't really argue with the fact that it does look a bit odd that Hall's sentence was so comparatively light.
Hall only got 15 months because that was the punishment at the time the offences were commited. If he had done it now then he would have got a lot longer

So if someone had committed murder in say 1965 but through modern techniques in DNA they were only traced and convicted now, would they be hanged because that was the punishment when the crime was committed?

Hall definitely got off too lightly. His actions with 18 girls might well have blighted 18 lives.
