[Albion] How could we get Odsonne Édouard?

Yep, this one looks consigned to the dustbin, but if Celtic are after £40 million (and I'm mindful this is due in part to a horror sell-on clause they have to honour) then they're taking the piss.

They sold Mousa Dembele to Lyon for £20 mill just 2 years ago, and we have Covid now, so how do they justify double that fee?

Surely it's £30 mill tops?

Apparently he's much better than Dembele according to the Celtic fans. He's the one I want the most.

Apparently he says we are a step down from Celtic

Another one to cross off the shopping list

if there's an ounce of truth in this, then I for one am glad. Of course as an addition for a club with only 2 front line strikers, it would benefit the club. But at the valuations talked of and having watched a shit load of him and his goals, I am just not convinced at that price he is good value, he's a sub 10 goals a season in the PL imho.

I could be wiping egg off my face, but I just dont think he's as good as being in the best team in a shit league makes him look.

Well he's right it is a step down in the sense that they're challenging for, and probably winning, the league title each season & we're not. But in terms of quality on the pitch i'd say there's not much between us.
Personally I think we would hammer Celtic they struggle against shit sides in the Champions league.

Perhaps we could offer £30m if a £15m option to buy at the end of the season is added to Shane Duffy’s contract?

Once Celtic supporters have seen the best defender in the league in action, they won’t want to let him go; there will be a lot of fan pressure to pay what is needed to keep the big Irishman in the hoops.

Veering into Leeds fans territory there be careful!

They are entitled to sell him at whatever price they wish.

I know that but £40 mill IS taking the piss, in the same way that asking £70 mill for Zaha is taking the piss. The player then doesn't get their move and all of a sudden you have a situation on your hands, an unwanted distraction.

Celtic know the game but this time they've been caught out on the recruitment front. Two years ago they sold Dembele knowing they had Edouard ready to step into his shoes.

I see the player staying for one more season.

BS.

The daily record sees us a step down not the player.

Leicester are favourites though, maybe we could grab Ian Nacho on the cheap if they are successful?

Edouard is not strong in the aerial duels and is not a great header of the ball for his size if that helps quell the disappointment.

In-e-shit-tho as he is known by most of the Leicester fans I know is a shockingly bad player at Premier League level. Wouldn't touch him with a barge pole.

For everyone saying he’s not good enough etc and we should look elsewhere, there are reports that Arsenal have made a bid.

"... so you're probably right."

Nah in all seriousness I think he might be good enough but if the rumoured £40m fee is true, I think its too much of a risk for any player in the SPL.

Plus, he was always likely to go to a fatter club than Brighton.

Hasn't he already said he has no interest coming here? If we was looking at him we have moved on.

He's down from £40M to £30M already! Give it until the end of the window and we'll get him for peanuts!

Seriously, I don't think he's the answer.
