‘Lost’ one of my running gloves so tried to get out Monday and do my usual but with extra base layer and pulled over my hands a la Mo Salah. The pain in my fingers was excruciating. I think if I’d been out longer than half an hour frostbite due to windchill might have been a genuine risk.

Also at home on Wednesday it got down to minus 7 without windchill and the waste pipe from our washing machine froze solid. Took 3 boiling kettles to defrost and when it did the pipe did an ice crap about 8 inches long.

I’ve actually been running double-gloved this week......have trouble with my hands at the best of times but the pain is awful in this weather if it gets to me. Wearing a thin thermal pair and then a thicker insulated pair over the top. I’ve bought some heated gloves for when we’re out walking - they are bloody fantastic. Rechargeable battery units in each one. Too bulky to run in though.

I had a couple of outside jobs this week, it’s times like this when the diy outside tap installations fail.

We had one this morning and the standard condense boiler not working...

Minus 3 and dropping here in RH20, wind chill as well so probably down a few more degrees.

I did a walk with Mrs Jakarta this afternoon and was happy to have my Seagulls Scarf and Wooly Hat on...

You have my sympathy, I’m glad I no longer work on building sites.
The 31 sink troughs and hundreds of taps I fitted around blatchington mill school in the summer have had a few technical difficulties in this weather.. 20210210_140632.jpg

I'm sick of this cold weather now; just can't get warm, even with central heating on. Bathroom is absolutely freezing in the morning, in spite of a radiator and underfloor heating, so getting out of the shower is really unpleasant.

Next week, though, daytime temperatures (Celsius) in double figures.

And in another fortnight, it'll virtually be March, the start of the meteorological spring. Bring it on!

Went out for a run yesterday. It was cold despite and extra layer and my usual winter gear on.
The wind chill was the killer.
I have decided -3 is the coldest for running for me, that's factoring the wind chill in. It was -7 yesterday.

If I was 10 years younger I would do this bare CHEST running.

Any youngster doing some bare chest stuff?

I'm still far too ****ing hot when I got running and I'm in the same shorts and t-shirt that I was wearing in the summer when it was 35oC

Has the tap actually split near the base?
Yep! Only one though (so far) a few fittings blew too, still I did warn them it might happen if though it's all lagged

The waterfall where I've been working this week hasn't frozen over - just the spray to the side. So, not too cold.
