I mean, I sometimes watch match day vlogs where Japanese people are visiting Brighton's football stadium to root for Brighton & Mitoma (there are many such videos on Youtube now). In some videos, Japanese people and Ecuadorian people are rooting for Brighton together. They are very lovely videos. Those videos made me think "Brighton must be big in Ecuador now" and "Caicedo & Estupinan must be big back in Ecuador".

I knew it would come because some European clubs that have Japanese footballers also made Japanese SNS accounts (twitter, etc).

I know it's my selfish idea, but I want Brighton to buy one more Japanese footballer for me. I mean, Brighton has become a bit special English club for me and I think I'll keep rooting for Brighton even if Mitoma leaves in the future. However, I want a specific reason to keep watching Brighton's game every week. I mean, now nearly 100 Japanese footballers are playing in Europe and the number is likely to increase year by year. Usually, I mainly watch European football games where my favorite Japanese footballers are playing. So, Brighton having one more Japanese footballer will keep the Brigton's Japanese twitter account more active for long

"Footballically" speaking, Japan is a sort of "Asian hope".

I mean, after Japan beating Germany & Spain in FIFA World Cup 2022, a lot of videos on the Japan's victories were uploaded onto Youtube and many comments are from Asian people living outside Japan (such as Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam). Now, AFC U20 Asian Cup is being held and after a striker of Vietnamese national team scored a beautiful goal, he said in the interview "I learnt the movie from Mitoma".

Except Japan and Korea, Asian countries don't have footballers who are good enough to play in top European leagues yet. Hence, they tend to watch European football games and World Cup games where Asian footballers (Japanese and Korean) are playing. Especially, Mitoma is a kind of "cool & fun to watch" footballer, so I guess he is getting big in Asia, not only in Japan.

I can understand footballers want to play for bigger clubs, so I won't get angry even if Brighton players leave for bigger clubs. That said, I want Brighton to try hard to keep their best players. The football clubs I hate the most are filthy extravagant clubs like Manchester City and Chelsea. I always love to see beautiful thrifty clubs like Brighton beating filthy clubs like Manchester City and Chelsea and I love to see beautiful clubs like Brighton beating traditional mega clubs like Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern Munich in UEFA Champions League in the future.

I don't feel like supporting mega clubs like Real Madrid. I think being a fan of a mega club like Real Madrid is a bit boring. Winning is too normal for them. On the other hand, Brighton spent quite a long time in lower leagues before reaching EPL, which makes one victory in EPL more enjoyable for their fans. I'm a very new Brighton fan, but I'm already excited to think "Brighton might be able to play in Europa League or Champions League next season". If I were a fan of very big clubs like Real Madrid, I wouldn't be excited much.

Celtic must be quite popular in Japan at the moment as well. Their manager worked in the J league and has brought in quite a few players to Scotland like Kyogo, Hatate, Maida and Iwata who have all done well.

Just chiming in to say that I'm Chinese American, but since there aren't any good Chinese soccer players, when I found out about Mitoma I jumped on the bandwagon. I haven't really watched much soccer over the years (much more of a baseball fan), but Mitoma has got me watching a lot more this season.
