I was very gutted back in the mid noughties when Tom Brighton chose Millwall rather than joining us. The closest we could get now is signing Marc Albrighton from Leicester.

Oh yes, the Scottish striker who came from Clyde. Dodged a bullet as it turned out, only palyed 16 games for Millwall, scoring just a single goal.

His namesake was always going to be a better bet as he is, after all, All Brighton.

Did we not once have a player called Conroy Goldstone?

I'm pretty sure there is a player in the Austrian, or Swiss, or maybe one of the lower German leagues whose first name or surname is Brighton.

Maybe just me then but I saw a Gillingham goal come through a while back and the scorer was called Sithole, I immediately wished that his name was shithole as it suits the town.

I think between us we've managed to remove the humour unintentionally. You said it was one letter away from being funny so I added an "o" on the end of Gerald.......it's definitely not funny when you have to explain it.

In the 1970s Lincoln City had Martin Blyth-Spartans and Russell Hertha-Berlin in the side at the same time.
