Simply do what Rik Mayall did to play chess, turn your normal coat inside out.

Me and Mrs Crodo invested in new house coats yesterday as a May treat to ourselves. The shop assistant said they’ve declined massively in popularity over the past decade and are now considered unfashionable. Anyone else still wear house coats?

Housecoats! They did go out of fashion didn't they? And not in the last decade either. I do remember my Nan had one, but that was back in the 1960s.

I hope you and Mrs Crodo enjoy wearing yours. Have they got flower patterns on them?

What's a house coat?

Housewives used to wear them over their clothes when doing the chores to keep their clothes clean. (A bit like wearing an apron when cooking). Not to be confused with a dressing gown or bath robe.

I did a search to see if I could buy a housecoat online, but I all got was bath robes, and dressing gowns. If you can't find it online it's definitely out of fashion.

Both my own Nan and my wife's Nan used to wear them all the time. My Nan was a cleaner so wore one all day!

I think they're a relic of past times, but well done for flying the house coat flag!

They usually made out of nylon. Polyester just doesn't cut it now.

Unless there's a 9th series, it's seems unlikely that Lord Crodo of House Coats will be challenging for the Iron Throne anytime soon.

The great think about coats is that you can leave your house and take your coat with you.
