Houllier retains title hopes
Houllier has plenty of faith in his squad
Liverpool boss Gerard Houllier has not ruled his team out of an assault on the title despite their fourth Premiership defeat of the season on Saturday.
Houllier has seen the Reds defeated in their last three consecutive Premiership games and fall to ninth place in the table, some 12 points behind leaders Arsenal.
But the Frenchman is convinced the club can resurrect their fortunes.
"It is still early in the season so I am not going to throw in the towel yet," he told the club's website.
"We know our targets - the quality of our game so far has been good, and we deserve more than 11 points.
"Sometimes you have good luck in this game and sometimes bad, but there is no point in complaining."
Liverpool lost 1-0 to Portsmouth, following league defeats at the hands of Arsenal and Chelsea.
